McGregor Says The UFC Won't Support A Logan Paul Fight

Conor McGregor has cast doubts about a boxing fight with Logan Paul after saying that the UFC is not backing it.

McGregor has been chasing a fight with Logan ever since reports came out that an exhibition could take place in India. There were reports of each fighter earning $250 million, which would have been McGregor’s highest payday. He has only ever had one boxing fight, which was in 2017 when he took on Floyd Mayweather. He was eventually stopped in the 10th round. But he secured his biggest purse, which was $100 million. McGregor has been trying desperately to have a combat sports fight ever since his defeat against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. That was the third defeat out of his last four UFC fights.

He suffered a broken leg, which has kept him out for a prolonged period. He was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 last year. But a foot injury meant that the fight never happened. McGregor then suffered a sexual lawsuit after Nikita Hand filed a civil case. She won that lawsuit, as McGregor was ordered to pay her damages and legal fees. McGregor is also facing another lawsuit, alleging something similar following an apparent incident in the aftermath of an NBA finals game in 2023.

McGregor Reacts

All this has cast doubt on McGregor’s ability to make a fight with Logan. There were suggestions that he could take on Jake Paul or KSI. But neither of those fights are likely to happen. McGregor has two fights left on his UFC deal, meaning that the UFC calls the shots. The Notorious has suggested that he may have a BKFC fight Instead. He is a part-owner in the BKFC, which gives him more leverage over what he can do. But whether that depends on his UFC contract is anyone’s guess. But for now, any fight with Logan is out of the question.

“It is what it is. The UFC just aren’t into it. The offer was there on the table, in writing. Both athletes will say, ‘He’s not fighting,’ but both athlete are under the TKO banner. UFC, WWE both rising up. The stock price of TKO Holding Ground (is) through the roof. New market in India opened up and booming. It was business savvy, and business sense to make the fight happen. Or should I say the glorified spar happen.

“In between this waiting period that we find ourselves in before I can get back to the octagon, it made perfect sense on the calendar to go ahead with it. The UFC weren’t into it. The WWE, I’m not sure what their interest in it was. I just knew the UFC weren’t into it. One of these days you’ll just hear my music come onto this stage in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and I’ll have my fist wrapped with no gloves for a fight, out of nowhere,” McGregor said
