McGregor Says His BKFC Debut Will Happen – ‘Mark My Words’

Conor McGregor says he has many fights lined up for BKFC as he expects to make his debut in the organization.
McGregor is a part-owner of BKFC, as he continues to work his way back to fighting. He has been absent from fighting since 2021, when he lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Three defeats out of his last four fights have seen his career decline massively. He is no longer the same fighter who was once a two-weight UFC Champion. McGregor also suffered a broken leg in the Poirier loss.
He has struggled to make a comeback from that injury. Conor pulled out of his UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler after suffering a broken toe. He had plans on fighting Dan Hooker on February 1. But Hooker is scheduled to fight Justin Gaethje at UFC 313, as McGregor’s future is no closer to getting resolved.
He has been linked with a boxing exhibition against Logan Paul. Reports initially indicated that each fighter could earn $250 million. But Dana White ruled that fight out, leaving McGregor with a difficult decision. His plans to fight in BKFC will depend on the UFC consenting to it. He still has two fights left under his UFC contract. McGregor faced off against Jeremy Stephens in a BKFC event after the fighter had just defeated Eddie Alvarez.
McGregor’s Future
McGregor indicated his desire to make that fight happen next. Stephens was also on board. BKFC President Dave Feldman said he could talk with Dana White to see if there could be a BKFC fight. There is no current news from White on that, but McGregor is still optimistic that he will fight in the organization this year.
“Yes. Yes. The warrior spirit burns strong inside me. For sure. If you think I’m up here giving these speeches and leading these men into battle and I won’t step in there myself, think again. For sure. Conor McGregor will fight in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship – mark my words. There are many bouts, showcase bouts you could say. Michael Perry, Mike Perry. You could say Jeremy Stephens. You could say a rematch against Eddie Alvarez. [And] you could say many matches. But the lightweight title, who is the champion right now, lightweight or welterweight? Let’s see. I’m open. We’ll see when it comes,” McGregor said
This raises questions about where McGregor will go next. If he cannot secure the BKFC fight, the Irishman may have to buy out his contract. Boxers have done this previously. Floyd Mayweather bought out his Top Rank contract and became his boss to become one of the most lucrative fighters in the sport of boxing. McGregor certainly has the brand and promotional knowledge to do that.
But whether he could secure such a thing is another guess. There is also the question of whether McGregor wants to return to the UFC. He has been out of the sport for so long, while finances are not an issue, meaning he has more options than most fighters. MMA fans had plenty to say about McGregor’s next move.
