McGregor Hints At USADA Enrollment, Cormier Questions Fury’s Mindset For Ngannou

In some MMA news, Conor McGregorhas set the MMA world on fire with suggestions that he has joined the USADA testing pool.
McGregor has been out of the fight game for around two years after having been beaten by Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Since then, talks over a fight with Michael Chandler have been teased for some time.
However, it was not enough to get McGregor back in the octagon in 2023 as the USADA testing requirements were not met. Fighters must provide two negative samples over a six-month period before they can fight.
That ruled out a 2023 fight, but it does seem that one could be around the corner if McGregor’s following post is anything to go by.
McGregor’s Return
“Find my targets. Hit them. F**k the consequences. You’re going down. This is fighting. Sparring day with slick @grozdevnikolay. Always a banger of a spar with the slick fella. Submitted my stuff to Novitzky. Ball rolling. See you soon you little light work b***h,” McGregor said
Nevertheless, McGregor’s prior comments have suggested that a comeback was on only to then not materialize. And yet, Chandler was optimistic that the fight would get made.
If the six-month requirement is met, then MMA fans will have the chance to see McGregor back in the cage in April time which would be around UFC 300. And that is what Chandler was banking on.
Chandler On McGregor
“The status is, unequivocally, the fight is still happening. The fight is not booked for a date, the fight is not booked for a venue, but the fight is booked between Chandler and Conor. There’s no way Conor comes back and doesn’t fight me. If Conor doesn’t fight me, he’s probably just not coming back, and that’s out of my control. He’s coming back, he’s fighting me.
“At this point, by deductive reasoning, by process of elimination, there’s a main event in December, there’s a main event in November, we’re not going to not be a main event, so that pushes it into 2024. I’m ready to fight in January, February, March, April, May, whatever. We’ll see,” Chandler said
Cormier On Fury-Usyk
Meanwhile, Daniel Cormier has questioned Tyson Fury’s decision to face Oleksandr Usyk immediately following his fight with Francis Ngannou.
The Gypsy King will square off against Ngannou on October 28th, 2023, in a fight that many expect him to win. Ngannou is making his boxing debut, while Fury’s mindset had been questioned in the run up to the fight.
The boxer’s conditioning at the initial presser received a lot of criticism, as he appeared a lot heavier with not a lot of turnaround time left. This led to suggestions that Fury was not preparing in a way that he is usually used to.
And given that he will fight Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world thereafter, Cormier doubted whether this was a wise move. Not only that, but it also showed a lack of respect for Ngannou.
“It is the most disrespectful thing Tyson Fury could do. It is so disrespectful! Tyson Fury knows. It’s kind of crazy, bro, because I hope Francis knocks his head off. I like Tyson Fury; I watched his show on Netflix and fell in love with the dude. I like Tyson Fury so much now. I love his personality; I love his family. But it is the most disrespectful thing that you could do.
“He scheduled a fight two months later, essentially saying that he’s gonna be completely clean when he’s done with Francis Ngannou. So he’s gonna beat Francis and go fight the number two heavyweight in the world right after. It’s crazy,” Cormier
Nevertheless, Fury has shown that his physique can be misleading. After his troubles with substance abuse and mental health struggles, Fury returned to face Deontay Wilder in their first bout.
Despite it being declared a draw, the majority of the boxing community felt he had done enough to win. And in any event, Fury recovered from a last-round knockdown to come out and then take the fight to Wilder.
And if there is any fighter capable of defying the odds, then fans would back Fury to do it again. Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingblitz.
