Conor McGregor is back in the gym at SBG Ireland, releasing new training footage alongside John Kavanagh that has reignited talk of his return.

The 37-year-old hasn’t competed since suffering a horrific leg injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. After a planned 2024 comeback against Michael Chandler fell through due to a broken toe, McGregor has set his sights on the UFC White House card. UFC CEO Dana White recently cooled talk of the Michael Chandler matchup, stating that while the fight made sense “a couple of years ago,” the promotion is now exploring other fights for the June event.

McGregor’s Future

McGregor has added a layer of complexity to his return, claiming during a recent livestream that his current UFC deal is “essentially void.” He argues that because his contract was built on Pay-Per-View (PPV) points, and the $7.7 billion Paramount+ deal removes the PPV fee for subscribers, a new deal is needed.

“It’s about to get really interesting with Conor McGregor and the UFC. When asked about Conor’s recent comments, Dana White is doing that thing where he says, ‘I don’t hear of anything.’ I don’t buy that for a second. I believe he hears everything. I remind you, when the White House card comes around on June 14, there will be no PPV. There will be no gate. And from what I’m hearing, there won’t be any sponsors either. That’s going to make things very tricky. I’m not saying Conor won’t come back, but they’ve got a PPV in July. Maybe they save him for that and sell tickets, gate, and all that,” Ariel Helwani said

McGregor’s Training

While McGregor is currently training at full speed, he remains ineligible to compete for the next several weeks. The Irishman is serving a retroactive 18-month suspension following three “whereabouts failures” in 2024. The suspension is officially set to expire on March 20, 2026. This timeline makes him eligible to headline the June 14 card, provided a new contract is finalized. The following picture shows McGregor dialled in, throwing punches and moving around under the observation of Kavanagh. The full footage is here.

“I’m 100 percent — this is. We’re going in here 100 percent. I’m going into this fight 100 percent Conor McGregor. Not 92! 100 percent Conor McGregor,” McGregor stated
