McGregor Destroys Sparring Partner – ‘Return Of The Mac’

Conor McGregor showed off his skills by releasing a clip of his first spar since breaking his toe.
The Irishman’s UFC career has derailed since his defeat to Dustin Poirier. The UFC 264 loss included a broken leg, which he was on course to come back from. He agreed to fight Michael Chandler for a June 29 fight at UFC 303. McGregor hoped to stop his poor run of form, which caused him to lose three out of his previous four UFC bouts. However, a broken toe meant he had to withdraw, much to the frustration of fans. The press conference was already sold out, something which just took nine minutes. However, Dana White has allayed some frustration by confirming that McGregor will be back early next year.
“Conor McGregor will fight next year, early 2025. He’s had so much time off, as far as the hunger, he’s a very wealthy guy. We’ll find out. We’ll find out when he comes back, but he is definitely one of the big superstars of the sport that elevated the UFC all throughout Europe and other parts of the world. He’s been a big star and a great partner for us,” White said
McGregor has been busy in the gym. The following Instagram post shows him throwing his training partner to the floor and boxing him. While McGregor looks sharp, sparring does not fully reflect what fighters can do. At 35, McGregor is coming back from a career-threatening injury.
McGregor’s Sparring
McGregor has many alternatives, even if his UFC career never hits the same heights. Canelo Alvarez said he would box McGregor if the right amount of money was offered. They were first linked with a fight when Oscar De La Hoya promoted Canelo. The Golden Boy promoter was against McGregor boxing Floyd Mayweather. Oscar justified it on the grounds it would not be competitive. That did not sit well with White, especially after De La Hoya suggested Canelo for that fight instead.
McGregor took the Mayweather fight. While he was stopped, he made $100 million from the fight, showing his crossover appeal. Since then, McGregor and Canelo have exchanged verbals on social media. The Irishman has critcized Canelo’s flat footwork, while Alvarez claimed he could beat him with one hand. Canelo recently demanded $200 million to fight David Benavidez.
No one was willing to put up those numbers. A fight with McGregor would demand less but still be a hefty number. Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou earned The Gypsy King around $50 million. But since McGregor is a bigger star than Ngannou, Canelo could command more. But that would depend on the Saudis putting up the money unless a US promoter backed it.
“Why not? And then we’ll show that boxing is better [than MMA]. Easy money. [I’ll knock him out] at the time I want. One round, two rounds, three rounds, whatever I want,” Canelo said
