In today’s boxing news, Conor McGregor has defend Dillon Danis’ performance against Logan Paul after the latter won following the MMA fighter’s disqualification.
Prior to the disqualification, Paul was dominating the fight even if he did not manage to drop Danis. The latter, though, appeared reluctant to throw anything 0f note, but appeared focused on making it to the final bell.
However, things took a turn for the worse when Danis attempted to do a takedown in the ring. Thereafter, he responded with a guillotine choke that also failed.
Thereafter, the fight was called off as a brawl broke out with security rushing in. In the post-fight comments, Paul was very condemnatory over Danis by mocking his MMA skills.
Paul On Danis
“He’s supposed to be good at jiujitsu, what happened bro? Stuffed the takedown, tried that. Tried to do a guillotine, sorry I missed that hammer fist. Ooh that would have been good. Dang, I’m sorry it ended that way, y’all. Dillon Danis truly is a coward. Just a dirty, dirty human being.“I mean, he called himself a “real fighter,” what are we talking about? What are we talking about? Hey Conor McGregor, I took your b****, put him on a leash and took him for a walk. Who’s the real fighter now,” Paul stated
Nevertheless, McGregor defended Danis for the following reasons. It seems that the Irishman appeared impressed with what he had seen given that Danis was making his boxing debut.
And even with that, Paul failed to register anything of note to trouble Danis who did not appear vulnerable at any point. In addition, McGregor did praise Danis’ technique even if he may have been reluctant to pull the trigger.
And after having gone the distance with Paul, who had vowed to stop him, Danis did defy the odds somewhat. In response, this is what McGregor had to say.

McGregor On Danis
“Are you not entertained! I was impressed, good shots, [Danis] needs to believe in his shots more and more and let them go, some of them were alright. Some of them he was throwing were alright, he just needed to let them go a bit more. What did your man do anyway, he didn’t even wobble him, he didn’t even hurt him, you little fool.
“You were in a dark spot? Guess what mate, you’re back in a dark spot now, back into the locker room… thinking about all the s*** you’ve been going through, you’re still in a dark spot, you done nothing, up the crew,” McGregor stated
This naturally begs the question: Will there be a rematch? Well, Danis had been vocal about wanting to run things back in MMA. And given that there was not a decisive winner due to the disqualification, there could be a desire to see it happen.
Regardless of what the case may be, Danis ultimately did not finish the fight. And that may have hindered what would have been a respectable performance had he lasted the distance.
