McGregor Bets $60K On CR7 To Win The Golden Boot At Euro 2024

Conor McGregor has placed a $60,000 bet on Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Golden Boot at UEFA Euro 2024.

McGregor and Ronaldo are on good terms and have been seen together numerous times. They were sat ringside for Anthony Joshua vs. Otto Wallin’s main event at the Day of Reckoning card last year. Portugal started the tournament with a win, beating Czech Republic 2-1 in their first match. A Francisco Conceicao goal in the 92nd minute was enough to get the win. While Ronaldo had a successful start, he did not get on the scoresheet. But McGregor does fancy his chances as he placed a $60,000 bet on Ronaldo to become the tournament’s top goalscorer.

McGregor’s Bet

McGregor’s career suffered a setback when he withdrew from his UFC 303 fight with Michael Chandler on June 29. The Notorious was looking to have his first fight since 2021 when he lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Irishman broke his leg only to suffer another injury. The exact nature of his injury is unknown, but the fight is expected to take place later in the year.

“Very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout. I picked up an injury prior to the press conference that required more time to heal than was available to me. The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but one made in consultation with my doctors, the UFC, and my team. My fans and opponent deserve me at my best for this fight and we will get there! Thank you for the messages of support, I am in good spirits and confident I’ll be back,” McGregor stated

McGregor’s opponent, Chandler, has also dealt with the bad news. He has been waiting for the McGregor fight since their time as rival coaches on the TUF 31 series. Chandler dominated the series, as his team won the head-to-head rival matches. But when it came to the coach’s challenge, McGregor came out on top. Chandler has not had a UFC fight since his loss to Poirier in 2022 at UFC 281. Since he is 38, the increasing inactivity will not help him. But rather than remain downbeat, he will still attend the UFC 303 card headlined by Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka.

McGregor vs. Chandler

“UFC Fan Experience, UFC 303: Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka, and just six days ago it was McGregor vs. Chandler. It’s my card. It was my card when I signed the bout agreement, signed my name to a piece of paper stating that I would be at UFC 303. I made a promise, I made a commitment and that commitment still stands because your word is your bond.

“Without your word, you are no good. If you can not be relied upon, if people don’t believe that you’re going to follow through with what you say you’re going to do, the definition of ‘integrity’ is doing what you say you’re going to do without fail. So yes, I will be at UFC 303. No, I will not be fighting at UFC 303. But I’m going to see through to my commitment,” Chandler said
