McGregor Avoids Jail For Dangerous Driving
Conor McGregor has escaped prison time over a prior arrest for dangerous driving in 2022, as Michael Chandler mocked the UFC fighter.
According to reports, McGregor was arrested in March 2022 for his unruly driving in Ireland. His car was seized after reports that he ran through a red light and was speeding through traffic as he almost crashed. But according to the Irish Mirror, the case has now been settled. McGregor has accepted a five-month suspended sentence. He must also pay a €5,000 fine and must keep the peace for two years. The Irishman also received a two-year driving ban.

There were further charges from the incident, such as driving without insurance and driving without a license. However, the charges have been dropped since McGregor produced documents to prove his innocence. This is not McGregor’s first involvement in a driving incident. In 2018, he got a six-month driving ban and a $1,000 fine for speeding.
Now that the issue has been resolved, McGregor can focus on fighting. McGregor has not been in the Octagon since his 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. He broke his leg in that loss as he returned to fitness. He was scheduled to fight Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29. However, he pulled out with a broken toe, leaving fans frustrated. McGregor expects to be fit by September. However, current reports indicate that he could fight on December 14.
With two fights left on his UFC contract, McGregor is looking to the future. He became a part-owner of BKFC. He has suggested that he wants to win a world title in the organization once his UFC contract is up. The Irishman also stated that he wanted the BKFC to become an alternative to the UFC. Several stars, such as Oleksandr Usyk and Ryan Garcia, have expressed a desire to fight McGregor in BKFC. McGregor was keen to make the big fights happen. But before that can happen, he must regain his full fitness.
McGregor’s Future
“For me, I’ve got a bit of business left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, two fights left on my contract. But for sure we have three lightweights up here and I have my eye on all of this. I’m not here up here just as a knower, player-manager I’d title myself on this. That’s me. I am coming to the end of my contract. I have two fights left. This is a very, very exciting organization here. How could you not?
“How could you not look to become a two-sport world champion in something as wild as a bareknuckle fighting organization. We’ve got the money, too. We’ve got the dough. This is big payouts here, also – big pay, big shows, big news, and a coveted world title in a wild and dangerous game. For any real fighter out there, that’s all you want to hear. Money, power, respect – Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has it all,” McGregor said
