McGregor And Khabib Hate Each Other - 'It’s Very Deep'

Daniel Cormier does not expect Conor Mcgregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s feud to end anytime soon.

The pair’s bad blood started in the build-up to their UFC 229 fight in 2018. McGregor attacked Khabib’s team bus while also making disparaging remarks towards Khabib’s faith. Nurmagomedov took his revenge in the Octagon, beating McGregor via a fourth-round submission. After the win, Khabib jumped over the Octagon as a brawl broke out between both camps. The rematch never happened, but the feud has continued.

McGregor recently trolled Khabib after reports that the UFC fighters underpaid his taxes to the Russian government, with suggestions that he owes approximately $3 million. There are suggestions that Khabib’s house could be sold to pay those debts, with McGregor even stating that he is in the running to buy it. Cormier does not see the tensions dying down.

McGregor Vs. Khabib

“He just hates Khabib. He hates him. … They are not letting it go. It’s deep-rooted, but it’s deep-rooted on both sides, honestly. (Nuragomedov) doesn’t like this guy, bro. They don’t like each other. This is crazy. It really is. It’s deep. It’s very deep.

“But I think the closest thing you would get to a resolution in that is, again, Conor beating Michael and then earning a championship fight against Islam Makhachev, right? Then Khabib could probably try to find some comfort in that and Conor could try to actually find redemption in trying to beat the guy that became the guy, right? So there’s stories there. I don’t know that it happens because Michael Chandler can’t seem to get a date (with McGregor),” Cormier said

Nevertheless, McGregor has never looked the same since the Khabib loss. His last UFC fight was in 2021, as he lost to Dustin Poirier. He broke his leg in the fight, taking his UFC record to three losses out of his last four UFC bouts. While the Irishman was scheduled to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303, he pulled out with a broken toe.

McGregor has also caused worry among his fans after being seen drinking on numerous occasions. That has created doubts about whether he will ever be the same fighter who became a two-weight UFC champion.

The Irishman also does not need to fight since he is financially well off. He recently became a part-owner of BKFC, even hinting that his future lies there once his UFC contract expires. While he never got the Khabib rematch, McGregor has the chance to create more legacy once he leaves the UFC.

McGregor’s Future

“For me, I’ve got a bit of business left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, two fights left on my contract. But for sure we have three lightweights up here and I have my eye on all of this. I’m not here up here just as a knower, player-manager I’d title myself on this. That’s me. I am coming to the end of my contract. I have two fights left. This is a very, very exciting organization here. How could you not?

“How could you not look to become a two-sport world champion in something as wild as a bareknuckle fighting organization. We’ve got the money, too. We’ve got the dough. This is big payouts here, also – big pay, big shows, big news, and a coveted world title in a wild and dangerous game. For any real fighter out there, that’s all you want to hear. Money, power, respect – Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has it all,” McGregor said
