Mayweather Denies Needing Money, Shuts Down Eddie Hearn

Floyd Mayweather has denied claims that he needs money, shutting down Eddie Hearn in the process.
Mayweather retired from the sport with a 50-0 record. He produced some of the most lucrative fights in the sport. He had mega-fights against Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor. Reports indicated that he earned over a billion dollars since leaving the sport. But there have been question marks over his finances. Mayweather has continued to take on exhibitions since his retirement. This created the narrative that he is struggling for money. Mayweather has continuously said that if he can pick up big money for what are essentially sparring matches, he will continue to do that. Hearn has not been convinced by that narrative as he hit back at Mayweather. Floyd met Hearn and dispelled those claims to his face.
Hearn And Mayweather
“I don’t think he’s got the money he says, that’s what I think. I don’t think he needs the money but you know when you’ve got that lifestyle, when he’s spending what he’s spending,” Hearn
“Eddie was like, ‘Floyd Mayweather Junior ain’t got no money’. ‘That’s why he doing exhibitions’. Eddie don’t believe that.”I know he says some s*** like that, but me and Eddie got it clear,” Mayweather
“Yeah as long as it is 10 or 20, there is no problem. Anything less…. It can’t be less than 10,” Hearn
“Listen I had to show Eddie some of my accounts,” Mayweather
“Imagine how much Floyd Mayweather would have made if I was his promoter, do you know what I’m saying?,” Hearn
Hearn On Mayweather
Elsewhere, Hearn was impressed by Mayweather’s work ethic which made him one of the best boxers ever. Floyd and Hearn were together as they watched Shakur Stevenson in the gym. Shakur will take on Floyd Schofield on February 22. It will be his first boxing fight with Matchroom Boxing. Shakur is the WBC Lightweight Champion, as he chases the biggest fights. A win sets up a possible fight with the WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta Davis. He has been credited for having one of the best defenses in the sport. That was something Mayweather was credited with having during his career. But when Hearn discussed Shakur with Floyd, the promoter discovered how much Mayweather would train.
“I said to Floyd last night, ‘wow, Shakur [Stevenson] sparred 14, 4-minute rounds.’ He [Floyd] said, when he used to spar, his first round would be nine minutes. And after that, every round would be six minutes. : I asked him to tell me about his roadwork, and he said he would run five to seven miles every day – sometimes fast, sometimes slow.
“And I just think it’s interesting how the game’s evolved and how conditioning’s evolved. But I don’t think – and some of the new-age tech guys will disagree with me – you can substitute roadwork. Over time, tell me a fighter than hasn’t run, that hasn’t put the miles in,” Hearn stated
