Mayweather Denies Being Punched After London Mob Incident!

Floyd Mayweather denies getting puched while shopping in England. 

Reports indicate that Mayweather arrived for a shopping spree in Hatton Garden, London. The 50-0 boxer appeared with a green Louis Vuitton jacket. Mayweather is known for having a massive fan base across the globe and having a history with British fans. He beat Ricky Hatton by stopping him in the tenth round to give the Brit the first loss of his career in 2007.

However, things appeared hostile during Mayweather’s latest visit. The following footage shows a crowd forming near Mayweather. His security protected the boxer by putting Mayweather in their car. The source claims there were ‘racial slurs’ fired at Mayweather, with suggestions the incident took place because of Floyd’s support for Israel. While some sources say Mayweather was not touched, an alleged witness contradicted those comments. 

Mayweather Incident

“There were maybe about eight to ten people involved in going after him, and about 20 or 25 watching on. Mayweather’s security team were outnumbered. Someone said that Mayweather had been shopping when he was asked why he supported Israel. He doubled down and said he was proud..Then someone took a swing at him because of that. It looked very targeted. He was bundled out of the shop but by then there were multiple people trying to hit him, and pushing his security guards.

“Floyd took a few hits during it, but his security was trying to push people back. I couldn’t really see Floyd trying to throw any punches back. His guards were just trying to get distance between him and them. They got him into a car and tapped the roof two times, then it sped off. Clearly they were desperate to get him out of there. It was over within two minutes,” witness said 

This raises question marks over Mayweather’s brand. Mayweather has faced criticism for his life outside of boxing, primarily due to his lavish lifestyle. He has also been scrutinized for taking on numerous exhibitions since his retirement. Floyd has repeatedly said that he is not desperate for money and will pick up money if he is in a position. He reportedly earned $100 million for facing Logan Paul, a non-professional boxer. The sum is more than what most boxers earn in their entire career. Floyd also indicated he was open to facing Logan’s brother, Jake Paul.

Mayweather Reacts

Paul secured $40 million after facing Mike Tyson, beating him in a comfortable unanimous decision. Although Mayweather has been praised for securing his financial future outside the sport, the consequence of his views is that he will naturally alienate some part of the boxing fanbase. However, Mayweather has shown throughout his career that he will double down on his beliefs. That is not going to change anytime soon. Mayweather reacted to the incident by denying claims he had been hurt.
However, the social media response shows that Mayweather continues to divide the public.
