Matt Damon On Meeting Henry Cejudo – ‘He Is The Guy’
Hollywood star Matt Damon shared a memorable story about a brief, confused encounter with former “double-champ” Henry Cejudo during his appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience.
The incident took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles during a UFC event. Damon was backstage chatting with one of the UFC’s lawyers when a “relatively small guy” with walked up to join the conversation. Damon admitted to Rogan that because it was a casual setting and he wasn’t expecting to be in “fan mode,” he didn’t immediately recognize the man as the Olympic gold medalist and two-division UFC champion.

It was only after the brief exchange—and a quiet prompt from Ben Affleck that Damon realized he was speaking to the legendary “Triple C.” Damon expressed his surprise at how “normal and calm” Cejudo appeared outside the Octagon. He noted that he expected one of the pound-for-pound greatest fighters to have a more aggressive aura, but instead, Cejudo was incredibly polite and relaxed.
“This guy walks up and he’s in, like, chinos, like khaki pants, and like a blue button-up kind of business shirt with spectacles. He’s very small and I kind of don’t really regard him and I’m still hearing this story and then Patrick goes, ‘Matt, do you know Henry?’ And I turn and it’s Henry Cejudo and I’m like, this f**king guy could wreck me right now. Absolutely f**king destroy me and he is the guy that some dummy would try to pick on, you know what I mean? He’s not carrying himself, he just is the thing,” Damon said
Cejudo’s Future
As for Cejudo, he retired from the UFC last year following his loss to Payton Talbott at UFC 323. That was his fourth defeat on the spin since he came out of retirement in 2023. While Cejudo has said he will explore wrestling under the RAF, he is also keen on other ventures. One of those is starting a children’s book, as Triple C’s future post the UFC takes shape.
