Masvidal Names His Hitlist For A UFC Return - 'I’ll Take His Head Off In Miami'

Jorge Masvidal wants to make a return to the UFC with Conor McGregor and Leon Edwards in his sights.

Masvidal is coming off a loss against Nate Diaz in their boxing bout this year. It was a rematch of their 2019 clash at UFC 244. Gamebread secured a win after the fight was stopped at the end of the third round. It was deemed no longer safe to continue after Diaz suffered a cut above his eye. The victory meant that Gamebread became the first-ever BMF Champion of the World.

However, that would be his last UFC win as he lost his next four fights in a row. Masvidal’s final UFC appearance was against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287, which resulted in a unanimous decision loss. However, Masvidal has gone down in UFC history by having the fastest knockout ever. That is when he stopped Ben Askren in just five seconds at UFC 239 in 2016.

But now Masvidal wants another crack at the UFC. He is looking to make a return in April next year. McGregor is currently without an opponent, making that an appealing fight. The Irishman’s last UFC appearance was in 2021, when he lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He suffered his third loss out of his last four fights. The defeat was also accompanied by a broken leg. McGregor recently pulled out of UFC 303 as he was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler.

A broken toe prevented that fight. Chandler then faced Charles Oliveira, losing at UFC 309. That makes a McGregor-Chandler fight less likely. McGregor’s announcement over facing Dan Hooker on February 1 also appears to be going nowhere. The UFC has not backed it up, while the Irishman is currently having a trial over sexual assault allegations. McGregor could very well face Gamebread in April once the trial is over.

“I’d like for it to be Conor (McGregor) because I heard he also wants to fight on that same date. He’s never mentioned my name because he knows I’ll rip his head off. However, if him and the UFC make that mistake, I’ll take his head off in Miami in April. But I don’t know if he wants it. He knows I’ll break him and make him look bad. I won’t take him down. I’ll strike with him and take him out of this orbit. He’s never mentioned my name, and it’s for a reason. … “They’re saying he might want to do it, but I’m chilling. If he wants to do it, great, I’ll kill him,” Masvidal said

The other option is to fight Leon Edwards. Edwards is coming off a defeat to Belal Muhammad at UFC 304. He lost his UFC Welterweight Title in a dominant unanimous decision defeat. Although a title would not be on the line, there is tension with Masvidal. They confronted each other backstage in London at a UFC Fight Night event as a fight broke out. Now could be the time to square off.

“If not [McGregor], Leon Edwards. He and I have history, and it’s time to settle it. He’s not booked, and neither am I. Let’s go, sign the contract, and I’ll break your face,” Masvidal stated
