WBC Welterweight Champion Mario Barrios defends his title against Ryan Garcia on February 21, as pros picked their winner.

Barrios enters the ring just seven months after a majority draw against Manny Pacquiao. That was the second consecutive draw Barrios had after achieving a split draw against Abel Ramos in the fight before. Barrios is now being trained by Joe Goossen—the Hall of Fame coach who previously worked with Garcia. Meanwhile, Garcia is looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Rolando Romero in May 2025. Garcia knows a win gives him his first world title, paving the way for much bigger fights moving forward.

Predictions

“Ryan did not look good against Rolly Romero. Didn’t look good at all. If Ryan leaves his offence at the gym, if he leaves his offence in the locker room, Mario Barrios is gonna step to him and it’s gonna be a long night for Ryan. The other side of that: Ryan’s gotta be fast, because Mario and his team, they’re gonna be prepared for that left hook.

“They’re gonna be prepared for a lot of the offence that’s coming right at him. Ryan just has to be on point. If Ryan’s on point, he probably will win that fight by knockout. If he wins that fight, it should be by knockout,” Shawn Porter said

“You lot think I’m joking… I bet any money Barrios stops Garcia. I bet you any money. I’m not even joking. [Garcia] is gonna fumble the bag. Barrios, any money, stops Garcia. I am 100% confident. Taking bets,” Conor Benn stated

More Predictions

“I have Barrios. I think Barrios is probably one of the most underrated champions in boxing. I think he’s better than what the eye test says. And I just don’t know how serious Ryan Garcia’s taking him. But you would think, since Ryan lost to Rolly in his last fight and had so much time off, that he’s gonna take full advantage of this opportunity. We’re gonna see.

“But I’m going with Barrios, and I’m going with Barrios because he’s the most underrated champion in boxing. He’s better than what the eye test says. And guess what? He has one of the best trainers in the world, Joe Goosen. And he has Joe Goosen’s assistant in his corner, one of the best young trainers, Wale,” Malik Scott revealed

“I think Barrios. I think if Ryan should win it’ll be in the first three or four rounds by knockout. But if they start going into four, five and six –– the deeper you get into the fight –– the more I lean towards Barrios,” Kenny Ellis revealed

“Of course [I want the rematch with Garcia] – that’s redemption. The same way he was rooting for me [against Norman], I’ll be rooting for him [against Barrios]. “I want him to win, and I think that [the stars] will align. It’ll be a massive fight,” Devin Haney said
