Krassyuk Wants The Best Version Of Fury, Zhang Dismisses Fury’s Win Over Ngannou

In some boxing news, Alex Krassyuk, Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter, is wanting to see the best version of Tyson Fury in the upcoming undisputed championship bout.
Fury managed to overcome Francis Ngannou in a controversial split decision, with many feeling that the Gypsy King had come out second best.
Ngannou inflicted some damage on the boxer, with his left hook, which sent the WBC heavyweight champion on the canvas in the third round.
In the aftermath of the fight, there were question marks over whether the undisputed bout would happen on December 23rd, 2023. Prior to the fight, Fury was adamant that this was the case.
And yet, when it came to the post-fight comments, Fury was coy over the date. At the same time, Frank Warren was vocal about how he did not foresee the fight happening this year.
Although that may have been the case, Usyk was clear that the fight would go ahead. And now Krassyuk has had his say on the matter.
Krassyuk On Fury
“He wants December 23. We have set up a training camp in Spain. He is focused on December 23. It’s not something we agreed to, but if he’s really injured, what can we do? We would not like to beat Saturday night’s version of Fury. It brings no benefit and no credits if he beats a man like that. We want Fury to be in his best shape ever. That’s what we want to see because we’re not thinking just about the belts. We’re trying to create history, and the history must be spectacular,” Krassyuk said
Outside of that, Zhilei Zhang was very vocal about the boxing result given that he had been linked with a fight against Fury. The WBO heavyweight interim champion had beaten Joe Joyce back-to-back before calling Fury out for a bout in China.
Although that may have been the case, the Ngannou result may have changed things somewhat. Prior to the Ngannou fight, there was a consensus that Fury would prove too much for the Chinese boxer. After all, Zhang is 40 years old.
But even if that were the case, Zhang was disappointed by what he had seen of Fury. And he made it clear in no uncertain terms that Fury was not victorious.
“To be honest with you, I got Francis Ngannou [winning]. If you count that knockdown, it’s a 10-8 round. And throughout the whole fight, he was landing more power shots and he was being aggressive. Fury didn’t throw a lot of punches for some reason. He was just holding himself back and controlling the distance with his jab. I think it’s a night of shame for the sport of professional boxing.
“To be honest, I think it’s bad for boxing. People like myself we’re training hard every day and we want to deliver a professional performance and what Fury did last night was just bad for the sport of boxing. He might have money and people behind him to support him but in another way it’s just bad for the sport overall,” Zhang stated
