Khabib Reacts To McGregor’s Legal Woes – ‘This Is Punishment’

Khabib Nurmagomedov believes Conor McGregor can bounce back from his recent personal and legal issues, but he did have some harsh words for the Irishman.

McGregor is one of the most iconic fighters in the UFC, having won belts in two weight classes. However, his reputation has taken a beating for his conduct outside of the Octagon. He was recently found liable in a civil sexual assault after Nikita Hand accused him of sexually assaulting her in a Dublin hotel room in 2018. While McGregor maintained he was innocent, he was ordered to pay her legal fees and damages.

McGregor also lost his appeal, adding to his other personal problems. In 2019, McGregor received an assault charge for punching an elderly man in a Dublin pub. And just this year, rapper Azealia Banks leaked alleged nude photos of him. Khabib and McGregor are not on the best of terms. McGregor threw a metal cart at Khabib’s team bus, but they settled their feud when Khabib submitted him at UFC 229. Despite their differences, Khabib feels McGregor can bounce back.

“I don’t want to mention his name. This is punishment. This is punishment and [McGregor] keeps doing this, keeps doing this, keeps doing this. Everything that happened with these old people, woman this, alcohol this, drugs, everything. This is punishment. … But the most beautiful part of this, Allah always gives for us—it doesn’t matter anybody, everybody—[a] chance to come back. Always, in this world, a chance to come back.

“This is the most beautiful thing. It doesn’t matter how you bad, Allah is going to give you a chance to always come back. I think he has a chance and he has to change the way how he’s living. Why am I talking about this? … If he’s going to change, he can change with him so many lives, too. And that’s why I wish him to change himself,” Nurmagomedov said
