Khabib Backs Crypto Coin Called ‘Convict McGregor’ – ‘This Guy Deserves Punishment’
Khabib Nurmagomedov promoted a crypto coin called ‘Convict McGregor’ ($CONVICT), saying the UFC fighter deserves punishment after he was found liable for sexual assault.
According to reports, McGregor was ordered to give Nikita Hand approximately $258,440 following her accusations that the Irishman had sexually assaulted her in a Dublin hotel room in 2018. McGregor’s friend, James Lawrence, was included in the lawsuit. However, he was found not guilty. McGregor exited the courtroom stunned, as he did not address the media. He has since then indicated that he will appeal the decision.
“I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That’s all on me. As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision,” McGregor stated
The case has had a major impact on his life. He has four children with his fiancée Dee Devlin, who has also addressed the situation on social media. Meanwhile, McGregor’s business ventures have suffered a big hit. McGregor is no longer associated with the Hitman video games. He was in ‘Hitman: World of Assassination.’ However, the company has reacted by cutting any links with the Irishman.
McGregor’s Problems
“In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has made the decision to cease its collaboration with the athlete, effective immediately. We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications. Consequently, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our storefronts starting today,” Hitman franchise
The Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey brand has done the same. McGregor played a part in its launch before selling his stake. He was, however, an integral member in promoting the brand, which has become one of the most talked-about drinks. There are also reports that stores could pull out from selling his Forge Irish Stout brand.
“Since 2021, Proximo Spirits has been the 100pc owner of Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey. Going forward, we do not plan to use Mr. McGregor’s name and likeness in the marketing of the brand,” Proximo Spirits said
Khabib Reacts
Now, Khabib has had his say. The Russian does not have a good relationship with McGregor as shown by the antics in the build to their fight. They faced off at UFC 229 in 2018. McGregor threw a chair at Khabib’s team bus. He was also blamed for disrespecting Khabib’s Islamic faith during the presser. The pair faced off as Khabib won a one-sided fight. He submitted McGregor in the fourth round. A brawl broke out as Khabib jumped over the Octagon.
While there was talk over a rematch, it never happened, leaving McGregor to deal with the loss. The Irishman has repeatedly been firing verbal shots on social media at the Russian. Although Khabib has refrained from engaging, he now had his say, stating that he supports the crypto coin ‘Convict McGregor.’ The coin will donate the proceeds to those impacted by McGregor.
