Joshua Told To Avoid An Usyk Trilogy - 'Usyk Beat Him Conclusively'

Carl Froch has warned Anthony Joshua about taking a third fight with Oleksandr Usyk

The fight could come about if Usyk and Joshua win their next fights. The Ukrainian rematches Tyson Fury on December 21 after having beaten him to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. Usyk then vacated his IBF belt, leaving Daniel Dubois as the full champion. Dubois will now box Joshua on September 21, giving AJ a chance at undisputed between the winner of Fury-Usyk.

Usyk has already beaten Joshua in consecutive fights. Joshua was completely outboxed in the first fight, almost getting stopped in the final round only for the bell to ring. In the rematch, Joshua performed better but was still outclassed. Despite hurting Usyk in round nine with a body shot, the Ukrainian had more gears to go through.

Froch Reacts

After his loss, Joshua threw Usyk’s belts to the floor, showing he had been mentally defeated. Since then, Joshua has been rebuilding and then decided to work with Ben Davidson. In their two fights, Joshua has stopped Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou. While Joshua has looked impressive, the level of opposition is nowhere near what Usyk will bring. Froch has warned AJ that he would come unstuck once again.

“Joshua-Usyk? Would I want to see it again? I wouldn’t be that excited about seeing a third fight because Usyk beat him conclusively twice,” Froch said

But before that can happen, Joshua must overcome Dubois. Dubois has been in impressive form since his loss to Usyk. Usyk stopped Dubois in round nine, as he missed the chance of becoming the Unified Heavyweight Champion. Before he was stopped, there were suggestions that Dubois had been deprived of a win.

He dropped Usyk in round five with a body shot, which was declared low. The body shot divided the boxing community, but ultimately, Usyk was given up to five minutes to recover. After that moment, Usyk went through the gears as Dubois failed to get up from the count. However, he has stopped his two opponents.

Joshua Vs. Dubois

Wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic have given Dubois a chance to secure the biggest win of his career. He has faced better opposition than Joshua of late, which could prove key. He is much younger than Joshua at 26, compared to AJ, who is 33. However, it is important to note that Joshua has not been punished too much.

Meanwhile, Dubois had his orbital bone broken in his loss to Joe Joyce. Daniel also took several right hands flush on the chin in his fight against Hrgovic. Although he stood up to them, similar shots from Joshua could have ended the fight early. AJ did the same thing to Francis Ngannou, ending proceedings with a razor-sharp right hand. Froch felt Joshua’s experience would get him over the line.

“If Joshua beats Dubois, who is the favorite against Dubois, I would think the smart money would be on Joshua because of experience. He’s been in more world title fights, and that experience will help him massively against Dubois. If Dubois goes after it and sticks it on him, he’s got a big chance. So, Usyk beats AJ in a third fight like he’s done twice. So, he’ll do him a third time. That’s nothing against AJ. Usyk is class. He’s so good in that ring. I can’t see him losing,” Froch stated
