Joshua Slams Rob McCracken, Mocks Carl Froch’s Nose

Anthony Joshua hit out at his former trainer Rob McCracken.
The former unified heavyweight champion is now working under Derrick James, as he gets ready for his upcoming fight on August 12th, 2023, against Dillian Whyte.
AJ spoke highly of the American on the basis that he was improving his fundamentals, the primary being his defense.
As a result, Joshua noticed as a huge difference when compared to McCracken. And in the process, he had a few choice words to say about it.
“Rob was in Japan for the Olympics. He only came back seven weeks before it. I just know it’s not good enough for where I’m at.
“Derrick reminds me of Rob but a lot more invested… Rob was too committed to the Olympic team, not the pro team.
“I gave Rob my best years, and now I’ve got to dig deep to get them back again,” Joshua
One man who has been very critical of Joshua has been Carl Froch. The former four-time world champion questioned whether Joshua could have a legacy without beating Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.
Nevertheless, Joshua has been a former unified heavyweight champion on two occasions.
Additionally, the heavyweight used Froch as an example over why it was right to leave McCracken.
Froch had worked under McCracken successfully and was known for being a no-nonsense fighter who was ready to take shots in the exchanges.
That infamously led to Froch’s nose being broken. As a result, this is something which Joshua had a dig about.
“Rob’s a really good coach, the only thing I’ll say though is look at [Carl] Froch’s nose. He just didn’t teach me defence.
“And in heavyweight boxing, the level of competition I was facing at that stage of my career, I was getting hit way too much with clean shots.
“I was sparring Solomon Dacres… the tall six foot five guy, in Miami for [Andy] Ruiz, who’s five foot,” Joshua
Joshua will have to back up those words, which is why a win over Whyte is all the more important.
