Joshua And Dubois Fire Verbal Shots During Final Presser – ‘I’ll Break Him Down’
The final press conference for Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois took place as they prepare to fight on Saturday in an IBF Heavyweight Title fight.
Joshua is chasing history as he aims to become a three-time world champion. The former Unified Heavyweight Champion has rejuvenated his career since teaming up with Ben Davidson. During their time together, they have had two boxing fights where Joshua stopped Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.
While that may have been the case, Dubois is a big step up. Joshua knows there is plenty on the line, as the winner will have an undisputed title shot against Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk, who rematch on December 21. Dubois is the IBF Heavyweight Champion, a belt he secured once Usyk vacated. The Brit has plenty to prove since he became the champion from his interim belt rather than winning it outright.
Dubois has seen a resurgence in form in his last few performances since getting stopped by Usyk. He has stopped Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic In his previous two fights. Dubois is heading into his prime but has faced accusations that he often quits in the boxing ring. His defeats against Joe Joyce and Usyk raised those points.
He took a knee in the Joyce fight even if it became clear that he had broken an orbital bone. However, the loss against Usyk saw him get up late from the count, just when he appeared he could. The Wembley crowd is expected to eclipse the 94,000 record set by Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte. There is plenty of pressure on both sides coming into this contest. Both boxes were raring to go, as they had plenty to say to each other.
Presser
“It’s a blessing to be back again and to prove to my team and everyone that I’ve done the right things in camp. It’s good to be back. I’m ready to rumble and remind everyone what I’m capable of. We’ll find out [what Dubois has to offer]. I can’t say. I’m not Daniel. All I can do is focus on myself.
“I showed Daniel and his team the respect they deserve through fight camp and that will stand me in good stead on Saturday. I’m tough and so is he. May the best man win. Good luck to Daniel and his team. One thing I said when I started boxing was that I wanted to bring British Heavyweight boxing back and I think I’ve done that.”
“He cracked me with a great shot and it’s my chance to get him back on Saturday. I’m looking forward to it. We’ve sparred hundreds of rounds. I could win in a variety of ways. I’m not depending on punch power. It takes a lot more than that to be a great fighter. I’ve got the fighting spirit and that’s how I’ll break him down, with my spirit,” Joshua
Dubois
“Everything is good. Everything’s gone well, training camp’s gone brilliant. Let’s go. It’s a resurrection story of my career. I want the big challenges, to make a name for myself and to make history. I need to retain this World Title. It’s a great thing to have but I need to legitimise myself by winning this fight. I’m ready to go and ready to fight. I’m not predicting anything. Like I’ve taken it many times before, this time it’s just a bigger stage so the energy will be higher,” Dubois
