Jones Mocks Aspinall – ‘I’m Outside On A Golf Cart’
Jon Jones is confident he would beat Tom Aspinall, as questions remain about whether the pair will fight.
Jones’ next fight is likely against Stipe Miocic this year once Bones returns from injury. Their UFC 295 fight was pulled only after Jones injured his pectoral muscle injury. Aspinall then worked himself into a title shot with stoppage wins against Sergei Pavlovich and Curtis Blaydes. Dana White has said Aspinall will fight the winner of Jones-Miocic. Miocic will retire after the bout, irrespective of the results, while questions remain over Jones. Aspinall has been doing everything to rile up Jones. He posted a video skit of himself trying to find Jones, ending the video with a duck costume over his head to show Bones was avoiding him.
Jones Reacts
Aspinall then referred to Jones as the biggest dodger while also referencing his prior failed PED tests. In 2016, Jones failed twice for two banned substances in the days before UFC 200. Then, following UFC 214 a year later, Jones popped for turinabol.
Once again, Jones failed for the same substance in the run-up to UFC 232. In 2019, USADA changed the levels of certain substances needed in your body to fail, leaving Jones to argue that he was now not guilty. Jones has fired back to show he is unaffected by Aspinall’s trash talk.
“Yep, worked my ass to prove my innocence. Now picograms are legal in our sport. Honestly, none of that will matter a few years from now when I’m covering my kids tuition. You guys still laughing about what happened at the office, I’m outside on a golf cart.
“Maybe I’ll leave you with blue balls, but my legacy will be just fine. I’ve done way too much work in this game. There’s people around the world that’s been watching me fight since they can remember. He would have to go on and win like 10 championships at least in order for that to happen. The work I put in, that body of work ain’t getting touched no time soon,” Jones said
Jones On White
Jones also praised Dana White for making the bout, as he defended any criticism over the fight. Bones’ last UFC fight was a first-round submission win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 last year to win the vacant UFC Heavyweight Title. He has only had one UFC in around four years, as Aspinall called for the Bones fight instead.
Miocic is now 42 and has not fought since 2021, when Francis Ngannou beat him. There is a perception that Miocic is no longer the same fighter. Fans also missed out on the Jones vs. Ngannou fighter after The Predator left the UFC last year. Although there are fears fans may not see Aspinall take on Jones, Bones lauded White for supporting the event.
“You put @danawhite in a business meeting with any man on this…planet, there’s only one man coming out on top. Real recognize real. @dosbrak,” Jones revealed
