Jonas And Habazin Ready To Unify After Making Weight

Natasha Jonas and Ivana Habazin made weight ahead of their welterweight clash on Saturday.
The pair face off in a unification as Jonas puts her IBF Welterweight Title on the line. A win ensures her Habazin’s WBC belt and makes her a unified champion in a second weight class. Jonas previously did this at 154 pounds. But Jonas did not look her best in her last fight. While she won a split decision over Mikaela Mayer, some in the boxing community felt she lost. She fights at the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool, her hometown, knowing she must deliver a good performance.
Habazin is full of confidence, having won the WBC vacant belt in her last bout. She defeated Kinga Magyar to set up the Jonas unification. She has suffered losses to Terri Harper and Claressa Shields, two boxers who are world champions. The 35-year-old will have to silence the British crowd if she wants to come out victorious. A win for either sets up a Lauren Price fight. Price currently has the WBA belt as she boxes against Bexcy Mateus on the Jonas-Habazin card. Jonas weighed and Habazin both weighed the same at 146 pounds.
Pre-Fight
“I’m contracted to do that fight, that’s the fight I’ve signed up for, but so many things happen and you have to win the fight in front of you,” said Jonas. “Like Habazin said it’s disrespectful to keep mentioning me and Lauren in front of her before Saturday. Pressed for a prediction, she added: “I’m going to get the win, that’s it. “I think she’s a great boxer, great fundamentals, but everything she does I think I’m better at,” Jonas said
“Let me tell you, I have been fighting in many big fights and promotions, but this is kind of disrespectful because all these talks of Jonas and Price, I’m a world champion. All this talk is like nobody respects me, that should never happen, it’s disrespectful to me and Tasha because we are fighting. I came here to fight, I believe in myself, I’m here to flip the script,” Habazin
“Of course Tasha with the momentum and wins and crowd, she’ll be looking to win, I know from Ivana this was the fight they wanted and begged for. “They are looking to unify the titles themselves and to make that Lauren Price fight themselves,” Ben Shalom
