Jon Jones Warns Alex Pereira – ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’

Jon Jones delivered a rebuttal to Alex Pereira, as momentum builds for a showdown at the UFC White House event this summer.
The exchange was ignited by a video Pereira filmed at the Brazilian tire shop where he worked before his fighting career. In the clip, the light heavyweight champion displayed a tire with the words “Next Jones UFC” scrawled on the side. Jones responded with an Instagram video, reminding Pereira of his long history of defeating Brazilian icons like Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida, and Glover Teixeira.
“I’ve beat a lot of legends from your country, my friend. I know you’d love to avenge the boys, but boy would you be a good one to add to my list. Be careful what you wish for. CHAMA,” Jones said
Despite the back-and-forth between the two champions, the bout is not certain. UFC CEO Dana White previously said the chances of Jones fighting on the card on the South Lawn as a “billion to one.” However, White recently appeared to soften that stance, hinting that a matchup could potentially happen at light heavyweight to allow Pereira to defend his crown while giving Jones a path back to his original division. Matt Brown also believes that Pereira would find it tough against Jones, as he could only see the latter coming out on top.
Brown Reacts
“The matchup is literally the nightmare matchup for Alex Pereira. Jon is as big, probably a little bit bigger than Alex Pereira. At heavyweight, certainly bigger. A million times better wrestler. There’s no way in hell that Alex has wrestling at Jon Jones’ level at this point. Even if Jon Jones is out doing cocaine for the last year and then just shows up and fights.
“I think the odds would be pretty heavily in Jon’s favor there.,” Brown said. “Jon and Alex both being ‘A’ sides, we know that Jon is probably going to win this fight. I don’t think there will be a lot of debate on who’s going to win the fight. The chances of it looking like Jones-[Ciryl] Gane is pretty high,” Brown said
