Jon Jones Teases A Huge Announcement – Will He Fight Aspinall?

Jon Jones has confirmed that he will make a very big announcement soon, which has sent MMA fans in a frenzy.
The UFC Heavyweight Champion is facing increasing scrutiny to take on Tom Aspinall. Jones defended his belt by stopping Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in his last fight. Miocic would later announce his retirement, while Jones left the door open for an Aspinall fight by saying he would face anybody if paid enough. Aspinall is in line for the title after having knocked out Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 in his previous bout.
Dana White has already said that is the next fight to make, with both fighters currently in talks with the UFC over their next move. The fight is arguably one of the biggest that can be made in the UFC. This is especially since fans missed out on seeing Francis Ngannou face Jones as The Predator left to sign with the PFL. This raises question marks over whether it will be Aspinall. If not, Dana White has said he will move on, as these are some options.

What’s Next?
Jones could announce his retirement from the sport. There were reports that the winner of Jones vs. Miocic would walk away. The heavyweight has already discussed his future outside of the sport, stating that he hopes to have a career in acting. He could bow out with a win against one of the greatest heavyweights in the UFC, even if Miocic was no longer the same fighter once they met.
Another alternative is to face the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira. Pereira is considered one of the best P4P fighters in the world. He has won the title at middleweight and currently holds the title at light heavyweight. Pereira faces the Russian Magomed Ankalaev in his next fight at UFC 313. This is arguably one of the biggest fights of his career. Ankalaev has not lost in his last 13 fights. He has secured 11 victories, a no-contest and a draw. A win over Ankalaev would increase the calls for Pereira to move up to heavyweight.
Some Options
Jones has already said that a Pereira fight is bigger globally, whilst Alex is also open to creating history as a win makes him the first person to win belts in three-weight classes. Equally, Jones could vacate his belt. The advantage is that he does not have to face Aspinall, with many feeling that he is ducking the Brit. But the chances of then securing a big fight are slim.
It also raises the question of who Jones could face outside of Aspinall unless he were to secure a mega-fight with Ngannou. However, that is unlikely since the UFC has said it will not do a co-promotion with the PFL. The only way that could take place is if Jones was out of contract. There is enough of a demand to see that fight with the Saudis keen to make it. Fans were left wondering where Jones would go next.
