Jon Jones Taunts Aspinall Ahead Of His Rematch With Blaydes - 'Your Boy Was Getting Touched Up'

Jon Jones, the UFC Heavyweight Champion, can see Tom Aspinall getting knocked out by Curtis Blaydes

The two have a rematch of their 2022 clash at UFC 304 on July 27 from Manchester, England. Blaydes won the first fight after Aspinall broke his knee in the first round, the only defeat of Aspinall’s career. Since then, Aspinall has been impressive. He knocked out Marcin Tybura and Sergei Pavlovich in first-round stoppages to set up the rematch. The win over Pavlovich was for the UFC Interim Heavyweight Title.

Aspinall was chasing the fight with Jones. Bones was set to defend his belt against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 last November. Bones injured his pectoral muscle in training, as Aspinall wanted the champion stripped. This was with the aim of fighting Miocic for the title, with the winner then fighting Jones. Dana White refused to strip Jones, with suggestions Bones was ducking Aspinall. An Aspinall defeat will shut down talks of a Jones fight, as Bones would not be shocked over a Blaydes win.

Jones On Aspinall

“I watched his fight against Curtis earlier today. Honestly, it was my first time seeing it. Your boy was getting…kicked. His knee blowing was the best thing that could’ve happened to him. I’ve learned over the years to never bet against American wrestlers. I’m going to laugh the hardest if your boy ends up losing. Go back and watch the fight, in the short time it lasted, Tom lost almost every exchange. Curtis was touching that chin from the moment the fight started.

“It’s not about the injury, it’s about your boy getting touched up. Even the moment his knee popped he was getting punched in the face. I’m just calling what I see. The fans get so impressed with the new guy, I look at was actually happening. I look at the tactics. I don’t hop on the train and get hyped like everyone else. stay around for a while, start breaking records. That’s when you get my full attention. I’ve seen this story too many times,” Jones stated

Aspinall has yet to respond to the comments, with fight week only over a month away. The Brit has previously stated that his next fight after Blaydes will be for the title if he comes out victorious. He has no intention of defending the interim belt. And yet, Jones has indicated the possibility of fighting UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira.

Jones’ Future

Pereira is a two-weight world champion who knocked out Jamahal Hill in his last fight at UFC 300. He will rematch Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303 on June 29 after Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler was cancelled due to The Notorious’ injury. Jones called for a Pereira fight if he moved up to heavyweight, saying he was a bigger name than Aspinall. That is why an Aspinall win is all the more important.

“It would be absolutely massive. A guy (Alex) has a chance to be a division champion and a goat versus the actual goat: same age, different strengths. No one can argue that that would be the biggest fight in MMA history. There’s absolutely no fight that generates a payday like that. Marketing would be insane,” Jones revealed
