Jared Anderson’s next opponent has already been confirmed with the news that he will face Zhan Kossobutskiy on August 26th, 2023.

Anderson had been scheduled to fight the Khazak prior to facing Charles Martin. However, Kossobutskiy was unable to get a visa to the US which is why the former world champion, Martin, stepped in.

Anderson overcame Martin in a slightly awkward fight to win by unanimous decision. However, the American did have to overcome some adversity.

In the fifth round, Martin connected with several left hands that shook Anderson’s balance even if he did stay on his feet.

Not only that, but Anderson went the distance for the first time in his career as he failed to knock out Martin, the only fight where he failed to do so in his 15 bouts.

With that being said, Anderson’s quick turnaround may be timely.

“We’re looking at putting him on the August 29th, Tulsa card against the original opponent that he was supposed to fight tonight with Zhan Kossobutskiy, who is 19-0 with 18 KOs.

“So they believe the visa issues will be resolved and are involved in time to get him to Tulsa for August 29th,” ESPN’s Christina Poncher

But remaining active is not the only reason for Anderson’s quick turnaround. The boxer recently expanded on how he was looking to retire from the sport of boxing at the age of 27.

And given that Anderson is only 23, there is not a lot of time left for the heavyweight to make a huge impression. As such, fights against the bigger names in the division could be targeted.

And with Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, and Deontay Wilder heading towards the latter parts of their career, Anderson could be the man to take over the mantle.

“So, I  said, ‘Then what [to Bob Arum]? When does he fight someone in the top 10? Do you have a long-term plan for Jared because he sure has an exit plan?’

“He [Bob] said, ‘I’m only looking for top ten guys for Jared next year in 2024.’ “Then I said,  ‘What about a world champion?’ He said, ‘That’s probably coming more in 2025,” Poncher
