In some top boxing news, Jared Anderson was reportedly arrested for driving under influence, as well as for having a gun in his car on November 7th, 2023.

According to reports, Anderson is facing the following two charges: ‘Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated,’  and ‘improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.’

ESPN’s Mike Coppinger claims that Anderson was at the Lucas County Corrections Center for eight hours before he was then released around noon time.

Anderson’s Issue

“A police report from Oregon PD said that Anderson was pulled over for allegedly going 55 m.p.h. in a posted 40 m.p.h. zone. The officer stated that he could smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed an open container of Don Julio alcohol in the car. Police also said that they could smell the odor of alcohol coming from Anderson. During a search of the vehicle, police found the firearm in a locked glove box.”

This is the last thing that Anderson needed, given his impressive run of form. The heavyweight is being tipped as a future world champion and with a record of 16 wins, with 15 by way of knockout, Anderson has been making big statements.

The heavyweight has fought three times this year, with his last bout being against Andrii Rudenko which he won via a fifth-round stoppage.

A hearing is set to take place on November 8th, 2023, in order to determine whether Anderson will be held liable. And the sooner Anderson puts this to bed, then the quicker the heavyweight can focus on getting that world title.

Fury’s Condition

From one boxer’s troubles to another, Todd DuBoef, the President of Top Rank, has reassured boxing fans that Tyson Fury will be in peak condition to face Oleksandr Usyk

The Gypsy King’s recent performance against Francis Ngannou raised serious question marks over his form and mindset. In a bout that gave both fighters the highest paydays of their careers, Fury’s performance failed to live up to expectations.

The WBC heavyweight champion was the overwhelming favorite as he was facing someone who was making his boxing debut. Although that may have been the case, Ngannou continued to trouble the Gypsy King.

A left hook dropped Fury in round three, as Ngannou continued to press forward. Despite getting a split-decision win, some in the boxing community had given the decision to Ngannou.

The perception after the fight was that Fury may have overlooked his opponent, or that the boxer’s form is not what it used to be. In response, DuBoef played down any worries over Fury.

“I think he was clear after the fight [with Ngannou] saying, ‘Hey, this is all on me, I did what I did.’ I don’t think he showed his full arsenal and when he’s razor sharp and he’s razor focused, what he’s capable of doing and I think on the other hand Francis was able to show what he was able to do when people had such low expectations. I think next time you see Tyson Fury he’s going to be razor, razor sharp,” DuBoef stated

And Fury’s performance will have to improve given that he is facing a former undisputed cruiserweight and current unified heavyweight champion who is also undefeated.

However, the fact that the fight is now expected to take place next year after the initial expectation of December 23rd, 2023, Fury has been given ample time to get in peak condition.
