Jake Paul Warns Tyson After Dropping His Sparring Partner
Jake Paul showed off his boxing skills by dropping his sparring partner in the run-up to his fight with Mike Tyson.
Paul takes on Tyson on November 15, as the fight will air on Netflix to a global audience. He enters the fight as the favorite, having stopped his last three opponents. His last victory came against Mike Perry in July, stopping him in the sixth round to set up the Tyson fight. Tyson was originally scheduled to face Paul before Perry stepped in, but he had to pull out due to an inflamed ulcer. Tyson’s last professional fight was in 2005 when he lost to Kevin McBride. Since then, he has only had one exhibition against Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw.
That took place in 2020, and there are question marks over whether the 58-year-old will be in prime condition. Both fighters have made significant changes to the fight. Paul bulked up to over 200 pounds since he usually fights at cruiserweight, while Tyson has banned smoking, sex, weed and gone on a raw meat diet. There are worries that the extra weight will slow Paul down. Paul is not used to fighting heavyweight.
Paul’s Sparring
He has shown in his fights that he slows down during the back end as he tends to lose stamina. But the following footage shows that he is more than ready for what will come his way. He is exchanging with his sparring partner before he drops him to the floor with a big right hand. While it is important to take sparring with a pinch of salt, Paul will feel confident that he can get one over on Tyson.
Undercard
Elsewhere, the undercard has also been revealed for the Paul and Tyson fight. In chief support, Amanda Serrano will rematch Katie Taylor following their controversial 2022 fight. Taylor won via a split decision to retain her Undisputed Lightweight Title. Paul hit out the result as he accused Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn of bribing a judge, which would later result in Hearn suing Paul for defamation, which they are currently battling in court.
This time around, Serrano will have to fight Taylor at 140 pounds. But there is a big piece of history on offer. A win makes her the Undisputed Junior Welterweight Champion and stops Taylor in her tracks after she had beaten Chantelle Cameron to become a two-weight undisputed champion. Mario Barrios will fight against Abel Ramos. The WBC Welterweight Champion was linked with the fight against Manny Pacquiao. However, talks broke down. But a Barrios win could still see that fight happen.
