Jake Paul Reportedly In Talks To Face Ex-MMA/WWE Star Matt Riddle

In some MMA/boxing news, Jake Paul is reportedly in talks to face another UFC fighter in what would be a crossover boxing event.

Paul has managed to forge a career for himself in facing ex MMA fighters to earn mega paydays. He has fought the likes of Anderson Silva, Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.

Although that may be the case, when it came to fighting professional boxers, Paul suffered the first defeat of his career. The ‘Problem Child’ suffered a split-decision loss to Tommy Fury.

The defeat did forge a change in approach, as Paul resorted back to facing MMA fighters. In his last fight, Paul faced off against Nate Diaz as he looked like his old self.

The boxer sent Diaz to the canvas in the fifth round, even if he did not manage to stop the MMA fighter, on his way to a unanimous-decision win.

Although Paul did offer to have a rematch with Diaz, which would require him to fight within the PFL under MMA rules, nothing has come about since then.

This is despite the fact that Paul had offered $10 million in order to make it happen. As a result, it appears that a new target has been found.

Paul Vs. Riddle

Reports indicate that Paul is in talks to face ex-UFC fighter and former WWE star Matt Riddle. That would certainly draw in the numbers, given that Riddle is known for his trash talking, as well as the massive following.

And yet, if the fight were to go ahead, then it would draw light on Riddle’s previous comments. He had been addressing Evander Holyfield’s comeback fight against Vitor Belfort.

Holyfield needs to introduction, given that he managed to become an undisputed champion at cruiserweight. This was then followed up by the undisputed title at heavyweight, making him one of the best.

However, his comeback fight ended in disaster after he was stopped in the first round. That did leave him frustrated as he felt that the stoppage was too early.

“I wasn’t hurt. The thing is, there wasn’t no shot that hurt me really bad. He’s strong and he got that shot and I was off balance. I think it was a bad call,” Holyfield said. “I think the referee shouldn’t stop the fight that quick. No, I’m not hurt. It’s kind of sad. It is what it is,” Holyfield stated

Riddle On Holyfield

Therefore, in light of what had happened, Riddle’s following comments about the fight could arguably be applied to him if he were to fight Paul.

“It kind of stinks for the up-and-coming fighters because now it’s just so much going on but the focus isn’t on the up-and-coming stars. It’s more like more trash-talking, celebrities, older fighters. But at the same time, I love it. If people can go out and make money fighting and do this and do that and they can sell more tickets. We can get more eyes on combat sports. I’m entertained,” Riddle said
