Jake Paul In Talks To Face Indian Boxer Neeraj Goyat

Jake Paul has begun talks over his next fight, which could be against Indian boxer Neeraj Goyat.

The talk over a fight emerged in the most bizarre of circumstances. Goyat called out Paul on Instagram, after which the Problem Child dismissed his name entirely. This was because the weight difference was too much. Goyat was on course to face Amir Khan in 2019 at welterweight. The fight did not happen as Goyat suffered a car crash.

He came back after in 2021, and his record stands at 18-4-2 (8 KOs). His last fight was against Jose Zepeda, but Goyat lost every round as he came up short. Goyat has fought at 140 and 147, making the weight a huge difference since Paul fights at cruiserweight. But that has not prevented talks.

Paul Vs. Goyat

Goyat: “I challenge Jake Paul for a fight. I request everyone to mention @JakePaul and @MostValuablePromotions (Jake’s Promotional Company) in your comments and let’s make it happen.”

Paul: “Any time, any place.”

Goyat: “Your time, your place.”

Paul: “Brother you too small. Walking around at 150lbs? Maybe I tie one arm behind my back?”

Goyat: “The bigger they are, the harder they fall. I’m ready to fight you at any weight. My walking weight right now is 158lbs and I don’t care about yours. your both hands and your brothers both hands will be less to even touch me.”

Paul: talks have started

Paul is coming off the biggest win of his career against Andre August. He stopped his first professional boxer in the first round to banish the memories of the Tommy Fury defeat. The choice to choose August was criticised since he was a small name.

But given that he is a natural cruiserweight, the fight made sense. This time, the huge weight difference does nothing to show Paul’s form. Regardless, he is slated for a comeback on March 2nd, 2024, on Amanda Serrano’s fight against Nina Meinke as a co-main event attraction as Paul continues to be active.

Paul’s Return

“I’m honored to be the co-main event on Amanda’s homecoming card, and I could not be more excited to bring this historic event to Puerto Rico as I continue my path to becoming a world champion. Our latest MVP signee, Wanna Walton, is making his global debut on this card, Bomba Gonzalez and Krystal Rosado are continuing their rise to stardom, and the whole island of Puerto Rico will finally get a chance to properly celebrate the greatness of Amanda Serrano,” Paul stated

Nevertheless, if Paul were to take the Goyat fight and come up short, it would damage his career. He has been accused of not fighting professional boxers. The defeat to August had removed that doubt, but facing Goyat does away with the idea of respecting weight classes. There is also the issue of whether such a fight would ever get sanctioned. And there is no getting away from that.
