Jake Paul Helps The WBO Open A New Gym

Jake Paul has taken another step in his boxing career, helping the WBO open a gym in Utuado, Puerto Rico.

Paul’s decision to enter boxing as a professional has received a mixed response. He has been praised for bringing new fans to the sport who may otherwise have been focused on the UFC. This has allowed former UFC fighters to receive bigger paydays, encouraging them to crossover into boxing. Nate Diaz did such a thing, losing to Paul via a unanimous decision. The Problem Child will also train with the US boxing Olympic team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. It could allow Paul to sign the next generation of talents to the pro ranks.

Paul has also managed to raise the profile of other fighters working with him under Most Valuable Promotions. The most notable one has been Amanda Serrano. Under Paul’s guidance, Serrano has managed to become a household name. Her first fight with Katie Taylor became the most-viewed female boxing fight on DAZN. While she lost a split decision, she has made herself financially secure.

In doing so, Serrano has secured the Taylor rematch. She will fight on another big stage when Paul takes on Mike Tyson on July 20. Now, Paul is working with the WBO to give back to the community. The WBO Chairman Francisco Valcárcel, Esq. and its WBO Kids Drug Free program will work with the Boxing Bullies entity. The Boxing Bullies entity was formed by Paul. They will work together to open a gym in Puerto Rico, providing training equipment for coaches and boxers.

Reaction

“We want to make a great card in Utuado in this incredible facility. The alliance we’ve made with Jake Paul will continue to bear fruit because we have a list of gyms. We will be supervising the already fixed gyms so that they stay clean. The gym is the best place a young person can be. Here you learn to be courteous, respectful, humble, and disciplined. Mayor Jorge Pérez is committed to this gym and that is important,” Valcárcel said

“We all have violence inside. We try to organize that violence into educating it, to get young people out of using that violence in gangs, to kill, and to use it for other positive things; to educate them, to put on the gloves, to discipline it, and that the young person can use it to benefit himself, his family, his people, and Puerto Rico. This is extraordinary work that will bear much fruit. Every boy or girl who touches this gym is a seed,” Mr. Luis Batista Salas, Esq (WBO founder)

“We want to give a space for young people and people from the area where they can develop as individuals and athletes. As we open spaces like this for the youth, we get them off the streets, with new friendships, learning discipline, and a better quality of life. We have several initiatives going on with the WBO. The goal is to continue building throughout the country,” Francisco Correa (Boxing Bullies)
