Islam Makhachev Outclasses Della Maddalena To Become A Double Champ

Islam Makhachev became a double champion, beating Jack Della Maddalena to capture the welterweight belt at UFC 322 in a dominant unanimous decision: 50-45 (x3).
Makhachev’s game plan was clear, as he secured the takedown in the opener. Makhachev threatened submissions like the D’arce choke, as JDM was on the back foot. Della Maddalena connected with some strikes on his feet, but Makhachev was able to counter, grabbing him in the clinch in round two. Makhachev hammered away with short punches and elbows, as Islam had accumulated over 18 minutes of ground control time. It was relentless with Makhachev taking Della Maddalena down at will. The fifth round had another takedown, as JDM had no answer.
“This is a dream. All of my work for these two belts. I am really happy. The belt is so heavy and I like it. I worked hard for this moment. My life has changed. No cut weight, five round non-stop, I can wrestle, I can do whatever I want. This is my plan. It’s not a secret. My opponents all know this and nobody can stop it,” Islam said
