Isaac Cruz Wants A Rematch With ‘Tank Davis’

Isaac Cruz is targeting a rematch with the ‘face of boxing’ Gervonta Davis

The Mexican faced Davis all the way back in 2021 in an entertaining clash.

While Davis did triumph via a unanimous decision, the fact of the matter is that the Mexican lasted 12 rounds.

And in the process of doing so, Cruz’s come-forward style resonated well with the fans against a knockout artist.

And yet, Davis did reveal post-fight that he had injured his hand through the fight which raised question marks over how competitive the fight had actually been. And yet, ‘Pitbull’ is keen to get his revenge.

“I want the American fans to know me as well as the Mexican fans, so I have to go up against the very best. First, I want that rematch with Gervonta Davis no matter what. After that, I want to face Devin Haney and Vasyl Lomachenko,” Cruz

But before Cruz can think about that, he must overcome the unbeaten Giovanni Cabrera on July 29th, 2023.

Cruz will fight on the biggest stage as part of the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford card as the co-main event attraction.

Victory for the winner will put them in a key position, as the clash is a WBC/WBA lightweight title eliminator. And by the looks of it, Cruz is ready to make a statement.

“I am ready to put Mexico on top once again and show that I am meant to go up against the best. I’m making sure that I’m working harder and smarter and making the most of everything I do in the gym.

“It’s not just about how hard you hit, you gotta be smart and have your punches connect in the way that you meant them to land all along,” Cruz

Ultimately, Cruz could secure a rematch since Davis’ coach, Calvin Ford, has expressed his desire to see ‘Tank’ run things back.

But whether it does end up materializing is anyone’s guess. Time will tell how it all plays out moving forward.
