Isaac Cruz Vs. Lamont Roach Jr. Predictions – ‘He Will Be Too Strong’

Isaac Cruz boxes Lamont Roach Jr. this weekend in a 140-pound clash, as boxing insiders picked their winner.
Cruz put his WBC Interim Junior Welterweight Title on the line, which he acquired in July after defeating Omar Salcido. It was the second win on the spin for the Mexican, having previously lost his WBA Junior Welterweight Title to Jose Valenzuela. Meanwhile, Roach moves up to 140 from lightweight, having secured a controversial majority draw with Gervonta “Tank” Davis in March. Roach would have won the fight on the scorecards had the referee given a 10-8 round to Roach once Tank took a voluntary knee in round 9.
Predictions
“I’m going with Isaac Cruz, even despite our past disagreements. In a fight against Roach, I’ll still bet on him. Roach looked great against Tank (Gervonta Davis), which is probably why Tank didn’t want to face him again — but that was a one-off performance. It will be difficult for him to replicate that level. I believe Cruz will be too strong for him. It’s going to be an exciting, explosive fight — I think it will turn out to be a really great one,” Robert Garcia said
“It’s a good matchup. I think Isaac Cruz can beat Lamont Roach. I think Lamont Roach had the perfect style for Gervonta Davis, but I just don’t think Lamont Roach is that good of a fighter,” Ryan Garcia stated
“If Lamont starts moving, then hitting, he could be in trouble. We’ve seen Lamont be handcuffed. When he fought Jamal Herring, he just didn’t let his hands go, and he was thinking too much. He was worried about what was coming back his way. And I, there is a world where I could see that, where I I could see Pitbull Cruz putting on so much volume and and getting to to to Roach in a way that he starts to overthink, because he is a cerebral fighter. But I could also see Lamont completely shutting down Cruz and fighting from the outside, disrupting his movement, not letting him get into a rhythm, consistently changing the footwork on him,” Chris Algeri revealed
Lamont has the ability, but Lamont got like a thing about him. You try pressing, he not going to let you just press. And guess what? Isaac Cruz, all pressure. So we talking about old school rumble right there. That’s old school. They going to get it in. That’s going to look like something from the ’80s, for sure,” Greg Hackett (trainer)
