Ilia Topuria Vs. Max Holloway Predictions – ‘He Finishes Him Late’
Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway face off this weekend at UFC 308, as fellow MMA fighters gave their predictions.
Topuria makes the first defense of his UFC Featherweight Title following his knockout victory against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298. The victory extended his undefeated record to 7-0, which includes five knockouts, as he ended Volkanovski’s four-year stint as champion. Holloway also enters the bout with an impressive knockout win. He stopped Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 in dramatic circumstances to become the BMF Champion.
During the last round, he gestured towards Justin to meet him in the centre of the octagon. Gaethje obliged as they both traded off. Holloway then caught Justin with a big right hand to end the fight with only a second left to go. Topuria and Holloway have indicated their desire to face off against UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev. And that all depends on them coming through this fight first. Here are the predictions from other MMA fighters.
Predictions
“I have to go with Max Holloway. He is the man and I think five rounds he will have success in,” Geoff Neal (UFC welterweight)
“Max, of course. Holloway brings the belt back to Hawaii; I don’t think Ilia will be able to get him out of there, and Max can win a decision,” Dan Ige (UFC featherweight)
“That is a tough one. But I will go with Max Holloway; he impressed me in that last fight and I think he took another step,” Mario Bautista (UFC bantamweight)
“I’m leaning Holloway, honestly. It might be biased; Holloway is one of my favorite fighters,” Vince Morales (UFC bantamweight)
Further Predictions
“Can’t root against Max Holloway. Ilia is a beast, but I’m going with Max,” Alex Morono (UFC welterweight)
“I honestly think Max wins, and I even fought Ilia. Ilia is great for sure and he has crazy power, but I think he hasn’t had anyone challenge him on the feet because everyone is scared. Everyone throws one-shot combos at him because of the power, but Max will throw volume. I think Ilia will have a hard time with Max’s striking and volume. Max wins and finishes him late,” Damon Jackson (UFC lightweight)
“I really like Holloway. I think his volume and pressure will be too much for Topuria. [And] I think Ilia will try to wrestle him a bit, but I like Max,” Eryk Anders (UFC middleweight)
“I think it’s a great fight, but I am going with Max Holloway. I think Max’s pressure and volume will be too much,” Chad Anheliger (UFC bantamweight)
