Holloway Warns Topuria: ‘We’ll See Who Gets The Last Laugh’
Max Holloway warned Ilia Topuria, saying he would show him what he was made of at UFC 308.
The fight takes place on October 26 as Holloway aims to win Topuria’s UFC Featherweight Belt. Holloway has won his last three fights, knocking out Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 in his last fight. During an exchange in the final round, Holloway landed a massive right hand to end the fight. The victory allowed him to become the BMF Champion.
The BMF belt will not be on the line, but there is still plenty to play for, as Topuria is a big name. Topuria knocked out Alexander Volkanovski in the second round at UFC 298 to secure the title. He gave Volk his first loss at the weight class, ending his time as four-year champion. Topuria remains undefeated with a 7-0 record. He has spoken about how he will be the first fighter to knockout Holloway.

“They’re all going to be so surprised when I knock him out. When I see that kind of videos with people giving their opinions and saying that Max is going to knock (me) out or he’s going to win that match. I just realize that they don’t know anything about the sport.
“They don’t know anything. Or maybe they don’t want to give me the credit for everything I have done in this sport and how good I am in reality. Maybe it’s that. If he’s going to bring the same energy he brings in the last 10 seconds of every round when he does his (point to ground), I’m going to knock him out in the first round,” Holloway said
Despite this being the case, Holloway was confident about his chances.
“Everybody thought UFC 300 was amazing. Wait until they get to see the outcome of UFC 308. It’s going to be a good one. To my fans, to the Blessed Express, tune in. We are going to have a bunch of YouTube videos coming your way for this camp. You guys get to see. You guys get to be on this ride with me and I can’t wait. I’ve been going hard over the last few years trying to regain my throne. A lot of people laughed, but we’ll see who gets the last laugh come October 26,” Holloway said
Who Wins?
Nevertheless, there are the following factors to consider. Holloway has only secured eight knockouts in his last ten fights. Four of those fights were defeats, meaning he has an uphill task to get Topuria to respect his power. Topuria has shown he can walk down his opponents in his 7-0 record.
Five of his victories were before the final bell, showing he can take shots to get a stoppage. This is something Gaethje failed to do, as he was countered coming in. There is massive pressure on Topuria as the favorite as he has targeted expanding his profile much like that of Conor McGregor. But to do that, he must overcome Holloway first.
