Hearn Rules Out Working With Whyte Again, Chisora Wants A 10-Year Ban

Eddie Hearn has ruled out a potential fight between Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua from ever happening.

Whyte’s failed adverse finding, which was discovered by VADA, resulted in their August 12th, 2023, fight being canceled.

Instead, Robert Helenius stepped in to take his place. Although that may have been the case, Whyte has maintained that he is innocent as he seeks to clear his name.

But given that Whyte is 35-years-old, with plenty of miles on the clock after having been in numerous wars, the chances of the two fighters facing each other now appears next to none.

Their only professional boxing bout was in 2015. Joshua secured a spectacular seventh-round knockout win over Whyte.

The ‘Body Snatcher’ had a win over AJ in the amateurs. Therefore, there was a narrative that could have been written. As such, there was an element of regret that the fight had not happened.

Hearn On Whyte

“Yeah, I think so [the rematch has gone]. I don’t know what Dillian is gonna do or how he’s gonna go about this situation – but it’s a huge, huge fight on his hands.

“You can imagine that Dillian Whyte has to go through a similar process with a different set of results and analysis that we’ve seen. And at that age [of 35], you know, is that a process that [Whyte] can come through the other side of.

“We wish him all the best. And again, I was surprised. You always believe and you want to believe in those people [who test positive]. It’s not something that I would expect from him,” Hearn

Nevertheless, Hearn’s comments suggest that he is keeping Whyte from getting too close to Matchroom.

That is drastically in comparison to Conor Benn, who had received the full backing of Hearn.

But given the profile of the respective fighters, this is understandable. Benn is entering into his prime, as Matchroom would potentially get a domestic superstar.

As for Whyte, he is on his way out. The 35-year-old enters the latter part of his career. So moving forward, Whyte has plenty to think about.

Chisora On Whyte

Much in the same way, Derek Chisora has slammed the state of boxing following Whyte’s adverse finding.

The results of the failed VADA test was the last thing that Anthony Joshua needed, given that his fight was meant to go ahead of August 12th, 2023, with the ‘Body Snatcher.’

While the fight will still go ahead, as Robert Helenius has stepped in, the fact of the matter is that the circumstances could have impacted the other fighters on the card who would not get the exposure.

If Helenius was not found as a replacement, there was a chance that the show could have been canceled or rescheduled.

That naturally would impact the other boxers on the show, as training camp costs do not get reimbursed. And unlike Joshua, those fighters may not be able to take such a hit.

With that being said, Chisora has demanded the highest punishment for those who are caught doping.

“There is nothing changed, because these motherf—– can’t do the work so they have to cheat… that’s the problem. Everyone who gets caught taking drugs should get a 10 year ban – f— everybody. I don’t understand why we have to footsie around this s**t. There’s the problem with this organization, British Board of Control… a bunch of old motherf—— in there.

“They need to retire and let these young guys take this over…. because, you take drugs and then you are going to beat somebody else’s kid who’s clean…. okay, catch a 10 year ban – now go be a builder motherf—–.   It’s the simplest thing. It never changes because you got all of these people getting money in their pockets,” Chisora

Boxing’s Problem

Those comments are even more telling in light of the fact that Conor Benn’s failed VADA tests for Clomiphene has raised a lot of controversy.

Despite Benn having his suspension removed by UKAD, the fact of the matter is that the reasoning for the decision has not been disclosed, leaving fans in the dark.

And at a time when boxing is being put under the microscope, coupled with the fact that it is a sport where a fighter can be damaged permanently, something clearly has to change.

After all, Chisora has faced Whyte on two occasions. In both fights, he came second best losing via a split decision and an eleventh round stoppage respectively.

However, there will always be doubts over whether Whyte. Had he been on any PEDS in the past due to this recent revelation? And there is no getting away from that, which is something that Whyte will have to deal with.
