Gervonta Davis Teases A Ryan Garcia Rematch - 'We Will Run It Back'

Gervonta Davis has teased a rematch with Ryan Garcia

Davis faced Garcia last year, stopping him in round seven to become the ‘face of boxing.’ The fight sold over 1.2 million PPVs, producing a gate of over $20. It was the highest-grossing event of 2023, showing the huge demand. Davis will now box Frank Martin on June 15 in a defense of his WBA Lightweight Title. Tank revealed he recently signed a 6-7 fight PBC deal as he targeted the biggest names. Garcia, meanwhile, is coming off the best win of his career.

He dropped Devin Haney three times on his way to a majority decision win. The result could now be in doubt after Garcia tested positive for Ostarine. The banned substance allows boxers to increase stamina and muscle and lose fat. Garcia maintains he is innocent, but his B sample has also returned negative. Team Haney wants the result overturned by disqualifying Garcia to give them the win. Davis backed Garcia during this period, believing the boxer was innocent. Now, Davis has hinted he wants to run things back.

Davis vs. Garcia

Garcia: “Love you bro. We will run it back again.”

Davis replied with three devil emojis.

Garcia has also expressed his desire for the rematch. Ryan felt the terms of the first fight hindered him. He was required to fight at a 136-pound catchweight, followed by a ten-pound rehydration clause. Garcia stated he was weight-drained, unlike when he faced Haney, suggesting that any Davis rematch has to take place at 140 or beyond. If Tank beats Martin, Garcia wants that fight next.

“Everyone wanna talk about the little stupid tank. Let’s fight nuff of that funny talk. Come see me at 144 and let stop the talk. “If you beat Frank let’s run it @Gervontaa,” Garcia stated

Davis on Benavidez

Elsewhere, Davis has talked up David Benavidez. The Mexican Monster will fight on his undercard against Oleksandr Gvozdyk. It will be for the WBC Interim Light Heavyweight Title. Benavidez has devolped a repuation for being KO artist. His boxing record stands at 28-0, with 24 KOs. He has stopped seven out of his last eight opponents.

That has made him one of the most destructive punchers in boxing, alongside Davis. Davis, however, was unaware of the boxer until he saw him face Caleb Plant. It was a fiery build-up, with both fighters firing verbal shots at each other. Plant referenced Benavidez’s prior failed test for cocaine. Meanwhile, Benavidez vowed to put Plant in hospital. Benavidez would overpower Plant via a unanimous decision. That is when Davis began to take note.

Davis: “I went to a David Benavidez fight when he fought Caleb Plant. At first, I didn’t know he was one of those guys until I actually went to his fight and put the earphones on. I was close up.”

Benavidez: “This is a dream come true for me. I have always wanted to fight on the same card as Gervonta Davis, and now that we’ve set it up, this is going to be the biggest card of the year.”
