Gervonta Davis Slams Turki Alalshikh

Gervonta Davis has hit out at Turki Alalshikh for not inviting him to the London Ring Magazine Award Ceremony event.
The event showed off some of the biggest names in boxing, such as Oleksandr Usyk and Evander Holyfield. Most of Tank’s rivals were present, including Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson. But Tank Davis was not one of those names who was invited. Davis is considered one of the best lightweights in the division.
He is undefeated and the current WBA Lightweight Champion. Davis is also set to have his next fight in March against Lamont Roach Jr. He recently said that he would be retiring in 2025. That perhaps would have increased the reasons for having Davis present since fans may no longer see him in the sport.
And yet, Davis has not had the best relationship with the Saudis. The Saudis reportedly wanted to make him fight Haney in the Kingdom. But Davis said that he wanted Ferraris delivered to his door before he would even consider having a conversation. Turki Alalshikh responded by stating that he would only be given a pair of gloves rather than the cars. Tank also hit out at fighters going to Saudi Arabia despite them potentially making more money.
He criticized the atmosphere, stating that they fight in front of a small number of people. He also said that he was able to make big money fighting where he currently is rather than simply going abroad. Even if Davis does hold those views, the fact of the matter is that boxers are prize fighters. Tank should be behind those securing the most money for their career.
Davis Reacts
After all, he justified his decision to retire early by saying that he would be focusing on his real estate portfolio and his newborn son. The perception was that he had made enough money from the sport. But perhaps there is an element of Tank not gaining enough recognition, which is why he was frustrated. He has been criticized for not facing the best.
“Why they didn’t invite everybody. But they invited people they deal with…..f*** outta here. Stop d*** eating. Look at that little rat thinking he came up on something (presumably Eddie Hearn). Now tell them all [to] fight each other…since they have a heavy roster. They wanna act like this guy Alalshikh] good for boxing when he not good at s**t.
“If so why he not building the people where he from? This guy knows s**t about boxing at all and this who they’re turning to. All d*** eaters. Lol, they have to go over there to make money and still do. I sell where I’m from b****, America. They be going over there getting their ass kicked fighting in front of a total of 19 people…but becuz they rich it’s cool,” Davis said
Tank’s comments are unlikely to repair his relationship with the Saudis. But if he does retire this year, he will not mind too much.
