In the top boxing stories, Gervonta Davis is reportedly back in training following his recent release from prison.

Following the boxer’s biggest win of his career over Ryan Garcia, Tank was apprehended by authorities for violating the terms of his house arrest.

That was a sour end to what had been a mega event against Garcia, which sold over a reported $1.2 million PPVs. Although that setback did derail Davis’ next plans, the boxer is now back in training with an eye on mega fight in the future.

Davis’ Training

In the video above, Davis can be seen engaging in some mitt work as the focus appears to be getting back in top condition. This naturally begs the question: who will the boxer face next?

As of now, the names being linked are Isaac Cruz and Ryan Garcia. The former has expressed his desire to run things back after having gone the distance with Davis in 2021.

Meanwhile, Garcia was open to fighting once again at 140 given the huge success of the fight the first time around. And yet, the outstanding names at 135 also have to be mentioned.

Bouts against Vasiliy Lomachenko and Shakur Stevenson are available, provided that Tank’s side are open to facing those names. But either way, Davis’ return to the ring can only be a good thing. And there is not getting away from that.

Hearn On Davis

Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn has put Devin Haney’s resume above that of Gervonta Davis in a battle of who is the better boxer.

Haney has undoubtedly achieved more when it comes to actual belts. The ‘Dream’ made history by becoming the youngest undisputed lightweight champion of the four-belt era with a win over George Kambosos Jr. to secure all the bets.

Thereafter, Haney moved up to junior welterweight to take on Regis Prograis on December 9th, 2023, in an attempt to become a two-weight world champion.

Meanwhile, Tank Davis’ biggest win came after stopping Ryan Garcia in the seventh round. The bout was the highest-grossing event in 2023, which sold over $1.2 million pay-per-views, as well as grossing in a gate that exceeded $20 million.

And yet, when it came to their records, both fighters have faced criticism over their wins. Both boxers have been accused go avoiding the big names, such as Shakur Stevenson and Teofimo Lopez. But when it came to a shoot out between who had the better record, Hearn favored Haney.

“Right now, if you’re looking at resumes and coming off the wins over Lomachenko and Kambosos, you have to say Devin, but Tank also has a great resume. Tank has had some great wins as well, but he’s fluctuated between the weights. He’s [Tank Davis] has had some good wins and Devin as well, but I don’t think it’s a comparison. I think if Devin beats Prograis, then you’re talking about another level of moving up weight classes and beating the top guy at 140 or arguably the top guy at 140 and a guy that has power as well,” Hearn stated

Haney On Davis

The talks over a fight between Tank and Haney has been mentioned. However, the weight class could pose a problem. Haney is unlikely to drop down to 135 pounds to make it happen, while the boxer has also ruled out a rehydration clause, something which Davis is known for imposing against bigger fighters.

“It would have to happen at 140 lbs. He’s fought at 140 lbs before; he beat Mario Barrios at 140 lbs. It would make the most sense for it to be at 140 lbs,” Haney

So until then, both boxers may have a claim for being the better fighter.
