Gervonta Davis’ Future Revealed – ‘He Will Be Back’

Gervonta Davis’ future has become clearer after his trainer, Calvin Ford, says his career is far from over.
The comments come after a difficult 2025 for Tank. The cracks in Davis’ career began to show last March in Brooklyn. Facing Lamont Roach Jr., Davis struggled to find his rhythm, ultimately settling for a majority draw. The referee’s failure to give Roach a 10-8 round once Tank took a voluntary knee in round 9 prevented Roach from getting the win. Tank also made it clear that he wanted to leave the sport soon.
“(The end) is close, for sure. I don’t know. It’s just a little draining. I just want to step back for a little bit and just focus on me, personally. I feel like I’ve been doing this for some time now and I just want to give myself a break and focus on me as a human being, me as a father, me as a son and things of that nature,” Davis stated
It was the first blemish of his career and fueled Davis’ public admissions of being “fed up” with the sport. A lucrative crossover bout against Jake Paul—slated for November 14 on Netflix—was also scrapped. While rumors of slow ticket sales circulated, the cancellation happened after a civil lawsuit was filed against Davis over domestic violence allegations. The WBA officially reclassified Davis as a “Champion in Recess” after Tank was arrested over battery allegations only to then be released on bail. While Davis’ next fight is unclear, Ford sees him returning.
Davis’ Future
“He will be back in the mix. Tank has been doing this since he was seven-years-old. Sometimes you need that reset because that reset means a lot. I can’t wait. I already know who I would like to see for a comeback. The person I want to see him in the ring with is the one we’re going to fight.
“That’s why I can’t say yet. I’m campaigning for it. At the end of the day he has to make the decision on who he wants to fight, but I know it has to be the right opponent, especially for his fans so they can really say I support him. It has to be a fight where they can be like ‘yeah,” Ford said
