Garcia Hits Out At Haney For Throwing A Punch During An Altercation

Ryan Garcia has called out Devin Haney, who was allegedly involved in an altercation alongside his entourage with a member of the public. 

Garica and Haney’s feud continues in the aftermath of their fight. Ryan dropped Haney three times on his way to a majority decision win. While that may have been the case, the result was overturned after Garcia failed two tests for Ostarine. As a result, he received a year ban, taking away the biggest victory of his career.

Haney has spoken of a rematch once Garcia returns to the ring. He will be allowed to box from April 2025, with Garcia confident that he can get another win. That all depends on both fighters keeping themselves well outside of the ring. Garcia recently said he would enter rehab following a series of high-profile incidents online and questions over his mindset.

Haney’s Punch

The WBC banned him for his derogatory comments on social media towards African Americans, Muslims and Christians. It appears Haney has gotten involved in an altercation he should not have. The following video shows seems to show Haney throwing a punch, followed by his entourage, against a member of the public following a feud. It is unclear what started the altercation, but Garcia had plenty to say about the incident. 

“I wonder what the commission would do if I fought someone and it was caught on camera. The thing is, he punches so soft that maybe they will let it slide and call it play-fighting. 

“He couldn’t even drop a civilian. Also you talked about being a great role model. You really punched someone while your whole team jumps one guy sounds pretty diddy to me,” Garcia

This has increased the narrative for the rematch. The Saudis are interested in hosting it, provided that Garcia returns clean from his suspension. Ryan has argued that the amount in his system was not enough to enhance his performance. Therefore, it had no bearing on the result. However, strict liability meant that Garcia was responsible for what was in his system.

Haney has maintained that he would beat Garcia on a level playing field, increasing the narrative for a rematch. A Haney fight would sell in Saudi due to The Dream’s Muslim faith, as he has a fanbase in the region. Meanwhile, Garcia has one of the biggest followings on social media, making him an attraction wherever he goes. The Haney result propelled Garcia to become an even bigger star before the no-contest. Now, Turki Alalshikh wants to do the rematch. 

“I like this guy, and I want to do a big fight with him. He asked me to do the rematch between him and Haney. We want to see this fight. I’m against drugs and everything about it. I said to Ryan Garcia, ‘You must pass the test and clear yourself and I am waiting for you.’ This is fair. He has a suspension in America. He can do something in Saudi Arabia, but I will not do it in Saudi Arabia,” Turki Alalshikh stated
