Garcia Has Destroyed Haney’s Reputation – ‘The Beating Started From The Beginning’

Ryan Garcia has destroyed Devin Haney’s reputation.
That is according to Teofimo Lopez Sr. Garcia defeated Haney via a majority decision, dropping him three times to cause one of the biggest upsets in boxing. However, things turned for the worse when Garcia failed VADA tests for Ostarine. This meant that the result turned into a no-contest, giving Garcia a one-year ban. Since then, Haney vacated his WBC Junior Welterweight Title after only Top Rank did a purse bid for his mandatory against Sandor Martin.
The Dream’s commercial value had dropped significantly with suggestions that he was no longer an elite fighter. Garcia maintained that the amount of Ostarine in his system meant that it did not enhance performance. Meanwhile, Haney continued to argue that he would win on an even playing field. Garcia has since then ruled out a rematch, while Haney is desperate to get his revenge. Haney is back in training as he chases the biggest fights, while Garcia will be allowed to box from April 2025. Haney has filed a lawsuit for battery, fraud and unjust enrichment.
He has also named Golden Boy Promotions alongside Garcia in the lawsuit. This has created the perception that Haney struggles to move on with the recent events as he chases some form of compensation. That has resulted in backlash from some fans, with many feeling that he is destroying his career by not drawing a clean slate and moving on. Due to the no-contest, Haney is still undefeated and a two-weight world champion.
Lopez Sr. Reacts
He has plenty of opportunities to face boxers at 140 pounds, such as the IBF Junior Welterweight Champion Liam Paro and the WBO Junior Welterweight Champion Teofimo Lopez Jr. There are also opportunities for him to move up to 147 to try and become a three-weight world champion. A fight against Mario Barrios, the current WBC Welterweight Champion, is the most realistic possibility. But his insistence on trying to get as much out of Garcia as possible has created a negative perception of The Dream suffering.
“I think Devin Haney is just trying to play chess and trying to put the right pawns on the right spots so he can get the best of what had happened to him and his image because Ryan Garcia destroyed his image. Not only that, I don’t know if it is true, but Ryan Garcia said that you can grab a little bit of salt and put it into an Olympic pool, and that’s how much substance he had in his body. I don’t know how true that is, but if that’s the case. The beating started from the beginning,” Lopez Sr. said
Haney’s next fight is more important than ever. It will show whether Haney’s performance against GarciA was a one-off or if it exposed a wider weaknesses. There is a perception that Haney struggles against power punchers who are a similar size and can walk him down. With worries that Haney’s chin is a weakness, that will be tested at 140 and 147.
