Frank Warren expects Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou to do massive pay-per-view numbers, as Eddie Hearn responded.

The two fighter’s will put on a ten-round boxing fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on October 28th, 2023.

The WBC heavyweight champion, Fury, will put his reputation on the line against the former UFC heavyweight champion, Ngannou, who will be making his boxing debut.

Although Fury is the heavy favorite, Ngannou’s decision to box may determine whether or not others decide to take his lead.

The last time that a major crossover event on this scale happened was all the way back in 2017.

Floyd Mayweather faced Conor McGregor as ‘TBE’ stopped the UFC star in the tenth round.

In truth, McGregor was outclassed, but the pay-per-view numbers spoke for themselves. The event reportedly did 4.6 million pay-per-view buys.

With that being said, Warren expects huge numbers.

“This is massive. It’s against a guy that will come to fight, and that’s what he [Ngannou] will do, and it’ll be exciting. I’m selling it as a massive event between the two best of their respective sports, and if people don’t watch it, it speaks volumes.

“If it does all the numbers that are expected, what does that make it? Whichever way you dress it up, this is a massive, massive event. It’s happening for a reason because everyone knows how big it is,” Warren

Despite this being the case, Eddie Hearn criticized the event. The promoter questioned Fury’s motives by claiming that the ‘Gypsy King’ had chosen to swerve the more difficult fight with Oleksandr Usyk by targeting an easy lucrative fight.

“Frank Warren says the reason these fights is because everyone’s buggering off to Saudi Arabia. Yeah, to be in legacy-defining heavyweight fights.

“You’re buggering off to Saudi Arabia to fight a debutant [Ngannou], who has absolutely no chance in the fight,” Hearn stated

The event will no doubt capture the imagination of casual fans, but in truth, the boxing purists wanted an Uysk fight. So will it happen? Time will tell.
