Fury vs. Joshua Is The Fight To Make - Says Warren

Frank Warren wants to see Tyson Fury face Anthony Joshua

Warren’s comments were made after Joshua’s impressive knockout of Francis Ngannou. The former Unified Heavyweight Champion dropped Ngannou three times before stopping him in the second round with a brutal right hand. That was Joshua’s second successive stoppage after beating Otto Wallin in his last fight.

Ngannou suffered his first boxing loss, as the former UFC Heavyweight Champion could not follow up on his impressive showing against Tyson Fury. Joshua is now in a position to face the winner of Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk, who fight for undisputed on May 18. Joshua has already lost to Usyk on two occasions, but a win for Fury would set up a mega-domestic British clash between Fury and Joshua.

Fury vs Joshua

“He did it in style. Tremendous punching power, good jab, and done an absolute job. It was a really good shot; he lined it up, really let it go right down the pipe, and caught him flush. I said whoever catches who with a hard shot will win the fight. If he [Joshua] had caught anybody with that right hand, he would have got him. A great fight to make [Joshua vs. Tyson Fury]. Let’s get May 18th first. Usyk has obviously beaten Joshua twice. They’re [Fury and Oleksandr Usyk] are #1 and #2. AJ is there. There are a few other guys floating around. It’s interesting times,” Warren said

Those comments were also backed up by Eddie Hearn. Following Joshua’s win over Ngannou, Eddie Hearn described Joshua as the best heavyweight. This is even though Usyk had beaten Joshua on two occasions. Fury and Usyk also face off for undisputed, showing that Joshua is not the number one in the division. But with Hearn desperate to make Joshua vs Fury, he has called on the Gypsy King to beat Usyk. They will have two fights, given that there is a rematch clause. But if Fury comes out victorious, Joshua vs Fury is likely.

Hearn Reacts

“If we won this fight then he would fight the winner of Fury v Usyk. You’re looking at the number one heavyweight in the world. Tyson Fury please beat Usyk because you will get the biggest fight in the history of the sport. As a fighter, he’s an inspiration to young people. What I said would happen, happened. He destroyed Francis Ngannou. He’s a beast and I cannot wait for him to beat Tyson Fury,” Hearn stated

Fury has been linked with the Joshua fight twice, but it never got made. Fury’s camp made a 60-40 offer before he faced Derek Chisora. Joshua’s camp alleged that the tight deadlines prevented the fight from being made. The same offer was made for a fight last summer. But Joshua chose to box Robert Helenius instead. Therefore, there are still some hurdles to overcome before a bout can be made. But this around, there is a feeling the fight will get made.
