Fury Says He Is Fighting Ngannou In MMA – ‘100 Percent, Small Gloves On’

Tyson Fury wants to fight Francis Ngannou in an MMA rematch.
The pair squared off last October as Ngannou made his first boxing bout. The fight went closer than expected, with Ngannou dropping the WBC Heavyweight Champion. Despite losing a split decision, some felt Ngannou had done enough to win.
Since then, a rematch has been talked about. During the build-up to Ngannou’s fight with Anthony Joshua, Fury sought to intimidate Ngannou over a rematch. The Predator said it would not be a competitive fight if they fought in the cage.
Ngannou On Fury
“I’m going to wipe the ring with your a*** again – there was blood in the ring. Your only chance is in the boxing ring with boxing rules, when you step out the ring you better stay five metres away because if I lose it, you’ll have a really bad time my friend. “Respect the fact boxing rules are protecting you, because you are nothing in front of me. I’ll beat you every day, twice on Sunday,” Ngannou said
Fury remained relatively quiet, given that an MMA fight would likely result in a one-sided win. But the Gypsy King has spoken previously about having an MMA bout. He even said he would get the better of Jon Jones, the current UFC Heavyweight Champion. Fury has taken Ngannou’s comments personally by vowing to meet him in MMA.
Fury Responds
“Beyond boxing, after I’ve done [Oleksandr] Usyk twice and after I’ve… if he wins Ngannou, given him a good hiding, I wanna go in the cage with him with small gloves on. 100 percent. Because he was chatting s*** yesterday about how boxing protects me. I don’t think so. I think I’ll smash his face in, in a cage,” Fury stated
Nevertheless, that is unlikely to happen. Fury has never had an MMA bout, making it a huge risk. Since he is 35, would the Gypsy King want to enter a new sport against a former UFC Heavyweight Champion? There is a chance that Fury would never be the same if he took some serious punishment.
It would also damage Fury’s brand if he came out second best since he is undefeated. But if the fight can be made, it will undoubtedly generate huge business. After all, it would be a male boxer crossing over to MMA in the modern era when both fighters were at their peak. But based on Fury’s comments about fighting Jon Jones in the cage, which he retracted, a Fury-Ngannou MMA bout is unlikely to happen.
“See Jon Jones has piped up. Jon, you talk about me in the cage, I’m not a cage fighter mate. I’m a boxer, the best boxer actually. So if you wanna come into a boxing ring and fight me, be my guest, let me know, you don’t have to call anybody else, no Danas, nobody, you call me, because it’s a boxing fight and I’m the boss in this game, me. You’re a great fighter Jon, but you’re definitely no boxer that’s for sure. All the best, good luck,” Fury revealed
