Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk held their first press conference in the run-up to an undisputed heavyweight clash on February 17th, 2024.

The fight offers one fighter the chance to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999 when Lennox Lewis beat Evander Holyfield.

Both fighters arrive into the fight with question marks over their form. Fury had to overcome Francis Ngannou in a problematic fight, as he hit the canvas in round three against an MMA fighter making his boxing debut.

Despite getting the win on the scorecards, via a split decision, the result was disputed with some feeling Ngannou had been robbed. Meanwhile, Usyk has his own critics to satisfy.

The Ukrainian overcame a tricky situation with Daniel Dubois after getting off the canvas from a body shot in round five, which was seen as a low blow, that was disputed in the aftermath.

Despite Dubois being stopped in round nine, Usyk did show some vulnerability to the body. The latter brings his WBA, IBF and WBO belts, as Fury’s WBC belt is the only thing preventing the Ukrainian from being a two-weight undisputed champion.
