Fury And Usyk React To Dubois Beating Joshua - 'I’m Not Shocked'

Tyson Fury and Oleksander Usyk reacted to Daniel Dubois stopping Anthony Joshua

Dubois put on a masterful performance, dropping Joshua four times during his fifth-round stoppage win. The victory means that Dubois is now considered a big PPV star, as he is in line to face the winner of the rematch between Fury and Usyk. Their rematch takes place on December 21, and Dubois could face them for the undisputed heavyweight title.

Dubois’ Rise

Fury and Usyk were in attendance for the fight as they got to see Dubois up close. Usyk already faced Dubois last year as he came through with a tricky ninth-round stoppage win. Dubois dropped him in the fifth round with a body shot. However, the referee deemed it a low blow, allowing Usyk over three minutes to recover. The Ukrainian would then stop Dubois. Frank Warren later appealed the decision, but the WBA did not overturn it, ending that fight on a controversial note.

Fury has not boxed Dubois, but he is well aware of his potential since they are both promoted by Queensbury promotions. In his post-fight comments, Joshua stated that he will continue to fight. But it is very difficult to see where he goes next. The same could apply to Fury and Usyk. Another win for Usyk over Fury makes him undoubtedly the best heavyweight of his generation, earning him more than enough money to retire.

And having already boxed Dubois before, there are question marks over whether he would want to face a young, hungry lion again. As for Fury, even if he were to come out victorious against Usyk, his brother, Shane Fury, has expressed his desire for him to retire. Warren has said that he is reluctant to make Fury fight Dubois.

Fury And Usyk React

The Queensbury promoter is very close to both fighters. He would also be pitting his best stars against each other, which risks losing one of them if they were beaten comprehensively. But Warren did state that he would make the fight if the two boxers wanted it. Fury has said he is keen to fight Dubois if he beats Usyk. Fury and Usyk had plenty to say about the bout.

“He did a very good job – fair play to young Dan. Everyone wrote him off, you know. Coming in, he was the [IBF] champion and everyone treated him like he was a bum. He showed what he is made of. It’s very good for him – fantastic. I thought it was a 50-50 fight [going into it]. Dubois is a lot younger at 27. AJ is 35, like me. Age doesn’t wait for anybody, does it? It is what it is…After I beat Usyk, I’ll fight Dubois. That’s my plan,” Fury said

“I’m not shocked because this is boxing. Daniel Dubois today was better. When you step back like this [leaning back], it’s dangerous. When I beat Joshua a second time, I don’t know what’s next,” Usyk
