Fundora And Booker Trade Shots - 'I Speak With My Hands'

Sebastian Fundora and Chordale Booker had plenty to say to each other ahead of their March 22 fight, as they held their final presser.

Fundora makes the first defense of his WBC and WBO Junior Middleweight Titles. He arrives into the fight with a split decision win against Tim Tzsyu. It was the biggest win of Fundora’s career, as he gave the WBO Champion his first loss. Despite speculation over a rematch, Booker got his shot. Fundora is targeting a big fight against Errol Spence Jr., as the pressure is on him to secure a win. Booker has nothing to lose as he enters the bout full confidence. He has knocked out four of his last five opponents. Both fighters were ready to put on a show.

Fundora’s Quotes

“I plan on putting on a great fight for the fans. I’ve been training really hard. This is my first title defense. I’m going to show everybody that I’m a champion and can defend these two titles. My mother is Mexican. I’m half-Mexican. After this fight, I’m going to go to Mexico City. That’s where I always go for my vacation.

“I think with my style, it shows how much Mexican blood I have in my veins. The nice guy persona is me. How you saw me today and yesterday is how I usually am. In the boxing ring, it’s different. I put the mouthpiece in, put the gloves on, and I speak with my hands. Maybe my fighting style is different than my personality outside of the ring, but I guess that’s where it turns off. That nice guy mindset,” Fundora said

Booker’s Quotes

“I truly am super grateful for this opportunity, but I’m not just happy to be here, I’m coming to win. I’ve got my city, Stamford, CT, showing up for me here and that means a lot to me. It’s gonna be a great night and I know everyone is gonna enjoy it. There’s no pressure on me. The only pressure is the pressure I put on myself. I want to bring this back home for myself and my community.

“It’s tough to prepare for Fundora’s height, because he has a unique style and unique height. You can’t find somebody at his weight who’s his height. But I made sure I got the best work possible to be prepared. If there were more guys like Fundora, they’d be world champions. I love being competitive. I love being competitive with everything I do. [And] I always set the highest goals possible. Now I’ve made it to the pinnacle of the sport and it’s time to capture it,” Booker said
