Froch Questions If Tyson Fury Has Sacked His Father -'Did Tyson Tell Him To Do One'

Carl Froch has questioned whether Tyson Fury has sacked his father, John Fury, ahead of the Oleksandr Usyk rematch on December 21.

Fury suffered his first defeat after losing a split decision as Usyk became the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. John Fury’s behavior was singled out for why Tyson may have come second best. He headbutted a member of team Usyk during fight week without any visible confrontation. John Fury was also criticized for his role in Tyson’s corner. Tyson’s judgment may have been clouded as his father’s instructions were given simultaneously alongside lead trainer SugarHill Steward and assistant Andy Lee.

The mixed instructions were not ideal in a high-pressured fight. And just this week, John Fury started a brawl at his other son Tommy Fury’s kick-off presser with Darren Till. John threw a water bottle at Till before security diffused the situation. Froch has asked if John Fury’s latest antics prove that he will not be in Tyson’s corner for the Usyk rematch.

Froch Reacts

“The usual pathetic childish behavior from a grown man. Darren Till did have a lot to say and he was very vocal but at the end of the day it’s not about him, it’s about Darren Till and Tommy Fury so why is Big John Fury, the fighting man, getting involved? Why the [hell] is he getting involved? Has he been sacked by Tyson Fury? Did Tyson tell him to do one and now he’s with Tommy Fury trying to get some of the limelight? I don’t know but same old [stuff]. Darren Till totally wrote him off,” Froch said

John has a history of controversial behavior. He flipped a table during the build-up for Tommy Fury’s fight against KSI. He was also seen punching a glass wall, which had separated John Fury from KSI. While his antics may result in fights getting promoted, it also means it is difficult to come back from this if his fighters lose. John Fury was uncharacteristically quiet following Tyson’s loss to Usyk. Unlike other members of the Fury family, such as Tommy and Shane Fury, John did not speak about the result publicly. This was despite Tyson being vocal that he won the fight, saying Usyk only getting a decision due to Russia’s war with Ukraine.

John Fury’s History

John Fury is not on the best of terms with Fury’s lead trainer, SugarHill Steward. He previously called for Hill to be sacked for his comments over the Usyk fight. The fight was being talked about for April 2023. But talks broke down, with Fury being blamed for that. Steward did not help matters when he revealed he was in the UK to train Lawrence Okolie for this fight against David Light. That created the narrative that he never intended to help Fury get ready for Usyk, suggesting The Gypsy King did not want the fight.

“When I have seen him training Tyson, he was living in Tyson’s house, he had his missus there, he was using the gym and I have seen him working Tyson out. “And all of a sudden he denied him like Judas Iscariot denied Jesus Christ? What the hell was going on there? “For me, that is a sacking offence. He will be down the road for that charade. It was upsetting,” John Fury stated

While it is unclear if John will be in Tyson’s corner, he is a presence in Tommy’s corner for now.
